In which version it was?
It was removed on 0.4.8 release in 2013 because it was broken.

Re: Diamond-square mountain landscape generation

I think this can be fixed, if far-away landscape would be displayed not as nodes, but as smooth polygon approximation. That would be an astounding accomplishment, if it's truly possible! It once was but it was a bad implementation and eventually was removed due to incompatibility with more recent w...

Re: Family Friendly server flag

How will you make sure that the kids do not simply select another server (either out of curiosity or by accident)? Such an flag would be solely informational. One solution against accidental selection would be a filter option that sorts out all servers not having a certain flag set or only shows all...

Re: Diamond-square mountain landscape generation

It's not a problem to generate such big mountain, but it's a problem to display it whole. Minetest became VERY slow on huge areas with visible nodes. Even landscapes with mountains with height=500 can not be displayed with normal FPS if you set infinite view range distance Yes, it's a pity that MT ...

Re: Diamond-square mountain landscape generation

Looks cool so far, with some decorations and some vertical biomes (tree line, snow cap) this would be a pretty decent mountain. Maybe add a setting for the maximum and minimum height of generated mountains (biomes should scale accordingly). I'd love to see realistically high mountains (3000-8000 nod...

Re: [Mod] Funny Shadows [shadows]

This is just great! I'm tempted to use it in my LP world but I'm a bit concerned about shadows being permanent even if the mod was disabled, and also this line of code . minetest.get_meta(chain_block_node):set_int("shadows", 0) It basically adds an unprefixed meta value to all nodes that a...

You can ignore all of those warnings. They're annoying but harmless. The texture alpha warnings need to be fixed by the slats mod author ( use_texture_alpha functionality was changed ), the Irrlicht warnings, well, they're just Irrlicht warnings caused by it's age and being unmaintained since a few ...

Re: Making lights solar-controlled question?

You could use a solar panel. With solar panel you get a mesecons signal if there is enough light. You then can use the signal to trigger an action. I'd use a solar panel and a NOT gate to indicate the status. If it is bright enough the solar panel emits a signal and through the NOT gate the signal i...

Re: Locks, Protection, and Sharing are Kind of a Mess

I think the main problem with security on servers (i.e. protection of areas and nodes and everything that belongs to it, like interaction, sharing, etc.) is that there are no engine-side features. There are some "dummy functions" that are supposed to be overwritten by mods, but that's it. ...

Re: Minetest mods in Minetest based game

So, first I wanted to know is it possible to use Minetest mods in MultiCraft and how? Depends on the dependencies of said mods. Some mods have no specific dependencies, but most of the mods have default form Minetest Game as dependency. So if MultiCraft runs Minetest Game, then (most) mods should w...

I had a similar idea but with "autoconnecing textures" (i.e. nodes with the textures depending on adjacent nodes). Never actually had anything more than a concept, though.

Re: [Game] MineClone 2 [0.71.0]

Being able to rotate nodes should be a core functionality and should not depend on game-provided tools. Modders should only need to define if a node is rotatable or not ans hould not need to care about how to rotate a node.

Re: Menu and hud scaling, doesn't work properly

Unfortunately this is the current state of HUD scaling and hotbar changing. The problem with the hotbar is that there is only one background image that’s scaled to match the amount of slots. So when you change the amount of slots the background image gets distorted. You need to change it to an image...
