Re: (Poll) What needs improved in the Android port of Minete

I personally would love to see an Android version (for Chromebooks) that is meant to be played with a mouse and keyboard, just like the PC version. Well, the Android API provides View.isInTouchMode() to detect if the defice is in touch mode (last interaction was by touch) or not. So in theory detec...

Re: Minetestmapper rewritten into C++

Ah shit! That looks great, man! Good job. The last version is beautiful.

This outplays the “official” mapper by eons :) I hope this somehow makes it into an official release.

Re: Minetest 5.0.0 feature freeze !

WTF is “mid-boost”? Quick research shows that the term is actually used for music amplifiers and electronic guitars and is used to raise/amplify the Mittenanteil (midrange) of the sound frequency. Here’s a video of what it does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20iGo67PJ8c But there seems no proper ...

Re: Daily Worlds Backups Script

ext3 supports up to 2 Terabyte depending on other circumstances. But 16 Gigabytes is absolutely possible and likely won’t ever be an issue when backing up a normal Minetest server.

Re: Public Remote Media Server Project

These clients are not compatible with the remote media protocol (largely, 0.4.11 and 0.4.13) and they should have not been built with curl support. They ask for resources by file name which means that if your remote media server has 25 copies of default_grass.png, the client can't ask for a specifi...

Re: Public Remote Media Server Project

I'm running an experiment on the PRMS - the PRMS will be sending a custom error image to clients that ask for the wrong files and do not honor the remote media protocol. The image contains the text "game client is out of date. Get it without ads for free: minetest.net". So you intercept a...

Re: Daily Worlds Backups Script

What seems to be lost within the discussion on how to properly shut down a server is the fact that it is not necessary to shut down a Minetest server to perform a backup.

Re: Daily Worlds Backups Script

It works perfectly fine with a bash script with an endless loop. It may work, yes. But it is still the wrong way to crudely run a stupid bash script. Setting up a a service is done within minutes and gives you proper start/stop/restart/crash/reboot handling, gives you proper technical logging and i...

Re: formspec: dropdowns drop down behind lists

The way is to put a request to Minetest code to change. I lean towards this, too because I don’t see why Irrlicht should change because of a single game using a combination of Irrlicht and custom UI elements. I guess I’ll write something up and create a minimal working example. Edit : https://githu...

Re: formspec: dropdowns drop down behind lists

So we have a weird mishmash of Irrlicht code and Minetest code. The most logical way of drawing stuff would be the order they’s defined in, with dynamic overlays (tooltips, dropdown lists) on top of everything. But who’s issue is this? Minetest’s because there is no proper implementation of Irrlicht...

formspec: dropdowns drop down behind lists
