Re: Is there any free server hosting

Yeah, just stick with your definition of "shared services" then. From my daily work I can tell you it's wrong, though.

Re: Is there any free server hosting

Think as in website hosting, MySQL remote hosting and other services that you are sharing services with other clients with. This is usually done via some sort of virtualization or containerization. No-one on the right mind has different customers on the same database or uses the same httpd instance...

Nope. Likely you'll have to use a VPS or host yourself.
Another option is to get a "shared" service.
Which is basically the same thing because usually a VPS is on a machine shared with many other VPSs running on a virtualization host (this is where the V is coming from).

just program the top/bottom to move when you right click the bottom/top make the bottom/top move as well
We should get rid of this "top/bottom" thing and start using proper 3D objects.

Re: Minetest in 2022

As to whether there is enough space, sure there is plenty of space for building. But for exploring? the minetest world is very small. If mapped to real world scales, the entire world would only have room for 2 biomes. Another point is that you can reach the edge of the world by walking, with not to...

Re: stable version + flatpak / flathub.org - difference

Maybe run an update with the --verbose parameter to see what's going on.

Was the app even installed from FlatHub?

Code: Select all

flatpak list --columns=application,origin
This gives you the repos for your installed apps.

Looking back through distant memories, I suspect it has to do with the fact that Wordpad shows UNIX style newlines unlike Notepad
This isn't the case anymore since 2018 where Microsoft finally fixed that issue.

Re: Advice on mod forum about "mod won't work" is out of date

The advice given in this old sticky thread in the mod section is out of date now that we have moved to modpack.conf . It should be updated in line with the new system. Yes, also ... Furthermore, modders and users should never use generic programs such as Notepad, but rather Wordpad Why use an RTF e...

Re: Any way to tell if a world is newly generated?

I need to be able to detect this because as soon as the user enables the new biomes in the settings menu, it'll be global and affect every world loaded from then on, unless I can spot the old worlds and disable it before loading. It should not need global settings that affect all worlds regardless ...

What could be reason that I see an older version?
The only reason you see an older version is that the Flatpak version is outdated.

You need to contact the Flatpak package maintainer and ask them to update the Minetest version.

Re: Can games include a prebuilt map?

You could limit the mapgen to singlenode and then write your own world generator that creates exactly the world you want. With this you don't need to provide a world (that will be different from upstream the second the player opens it which makes it impossible to easily update it).

Seems similar to xconnected ( https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?t=12882 ) The nodeboxes are clearly different :) It's also 2015 Minetest code. The API evolved since then and allows more and better features for visually connecting nodes without any "tricks" like moving nodeboxes aro...

Re: Concrete mod

Maybe use GitLab or something for hosting. This makes it easier for players to get the mod, and easier for you to publish updated/fixed versions of the mod, and easier for other to suggest fixes and improvements.

Just a little update: SD Walls now has an API to register own walls.

The version is available via Git and on CDB.

I wonder where it.domain.name comes from. The certificate should be issued to content.minetest.net.

You should create a new user account for testing purposes and log in with that account and try to access the site again to sort out any user-specific configuration issues.
