Re: Menus and the inventory
This isn't a decent enough explanation. Many server/client games (think MMOs) need to handle inventory in a similar fashion and do not have the same lag.Krock wrote:To prevent from cheating.bru wrote:Why aren't the menus handled client side?

Aren't those provided by SimpleMobs?Dragonop wrote:I really will love to see Dungeon Master, Oerkky, The Rat(s), the Lightbugs, and maybe a 2D sheep. Why the mobs where removed? They where not buggy, and fast, in the older versions :)

Re: Advantages and Disadvantages of merging Mesecons
I'm not saying that Minetest doesn't need work. But what we don't need is people engaging in extreme hyperbole on what is needed just to run the thing. First off, please quote me properly, not misattributing my words to someone else. A singleplayer game with an essentially empty world. Yes that wil...

Re: Advantages and Disadvantages of merging Mesecons
Current versions of Minetest cant even run on the most descent computers, I have a new $800 computer ( new as of January 15, 2014 ) and I have problems running Minetest even on vanilla. Minetest needs to be play able with out people having to go out and buy a $2000-$4000 computer, its just outrageo...

Re: Restore mapgen v5 ?
I agree as well, v6 is quite dull in mapgen wise, nothing really to explore. and v7 the only way to use it is add a mod and a lot of lag :( That has been my experience so far. I have been unimpressed with the caving experience. All I have seen are moderately sized pocket caverns, no tunnels at all....

Re: What's Minetest still missing over Minecraft?
Eyes do not see in terms of frames; they see a continous stream of light. Also, nearly anyone can distinguish between 25 FPS and 50-60 FPS. Try setitng fps_max to 25 and see, it's far from ideal (but fully playable). :) So much this. Where this whole 25FPS (24, actually) is because movies are displ...

Yes, but that doesn't mean the display of the change needs to wait on confirmation.Achilles wrote:Inventory changes have to be confirmed by the server in order to avoid cheating.

Re: Wishes for Minetest 0.4.11 (or 0.5)
Just to answer one of my wishes... * Mouse inversion. I learned flight sims before FPS so to me moving the mouse up is look down. It is there. Add "mouse_invert=true" to minetest.conf. So my request is really "Mouse inversion as an option in the GUI." But that could be expended t...

Re: Wishes for Minetest 0.4.11 (or 0.5)
I've poked at Minetest on and off for a while so pardon me if I miss something that is already implemented. Also, pardon me if I refer to things in *coughcough*. * Mouse inversion. I learned flight sims before FPS so to me moving the mouse up is look down. * Something akin to NEI as a default mod. F...
