Re: What's Minetest still missing over Minecraft?
Weight vs Mass annoys me. It's always misused. he, that may indeed be an issue but I have grown sort of tired on insisting on this detail when talking to most people. Most of them live on this earth and don't intend to leave it. When I explain it to them they usually question the need of having to ...

My math teacher that worked in aeronautics (rockets, jets) things like that told me you can find the mass of something by weighing it. I don't have any problem with doing that personally.rubenwardy wrote:Weight vs Mass annoys me. It's always misused.

Re: [Mod] Vines and Rope [2.2.1] [vines]
Vines seems to get disabled on it's own. Works in game but each launch requires me to configure the mods and enable it. What could be doing that? A work around that seems to do for now is to place vines into worldmods.

Re: Proposal of adding an objective: Technology
A questing API would fill this hole within a subgame. Also some tailored biomes that make from of the quest more challenging. Maybe add some stone that can only be broken by an iron axe which is found only in instances like castles or villages. Iron would be hidden under the stone but once it's brok...

Re: Advanced Cave Culling Algorithm
Well it saves processing of animation where you have 20 players in one room blasting off all their guns but none of that is rendered to players on the other side of that map. It was always fun to find glitches to move from one spot to another and suddenly see 5 players attacking you disappear. It's ...

Re: [Mod] Slime blocks and liquids [0.1.0] [slimenodes]
Maybe you know how to make a finite liquid heal players standing in it. If player in healing_water node then +1 health. Or standing on slime that does something like that.

Re: Advanced Cave Culling Algorithm
Some games like hl and q3a would connect two large area with hallways and use some sort of special portal that would hide the models and some of the object in the rest of the map. This lead to many map makers building about half of the map out of special meshes and props that would both cut compile ...

Re: Minetest IDE - Develop mods and games in an efficient wa
Since you are planning to rewrite the project, have you considered Lazarus ? It can compille (true binary) the exact same code (write once, compile everywhere) for linux, windows, mac, amiga, gameboy advanced, netware, AVR, OS/2 etc. With some changes to the code it can compile for JVM and Android....

If the gate is built on the surface no portals are made. I never tested trying to start in the Nether to make a portal to the top.

Re: Scripting Interface Like Raspberry Pi Python?
If it's a separate executable that listens to a port of your choice then any language can do that it doesn't have to be LUA. I am assuming this mean Minetest is somehow sending some kind of data to another program somewhere else on the server? There would be read write executable security concerns t...

Re: Can we change the quote on the Minetest.net homepage
I don't expect any maintainer to manually produce thumbnails for every picture ever posted and I don't think anyone is paying him/her to do that either. PHP is able to do this but that again mean he would need to sit down and figure out a bug free solution if phpBB's features do not produce intended...

Re: What's Minetest still missing over Minecraft?
F = G * m1 * m2 /r^2 There would need to be a way to determine how much things weigh. There would be easier to implement on a fresh vanilla. All the nodes like sand would need to be defined. Mass would need to be defined. If gravity were written into the engine then there would be a way to wrap the ...

It uses key_e to interact with certain items in the world. Another thing trove does is jump over two nodes instead of the one. Re: My impressions on Minetest
I never played minecraft but have watched other play sometimes. They usually play in creative I think because things like crafting takes longer to do. I think Minecraft should be more like minetest. It would be nice if you could configure more of the game to make it more appealing to people. If only...
