Re: [Server] Xanadu
http://mt.jjayr.com is death ... just main has a hello - so server is there but starting page or folders wiped out https://mt.jjayr.com/map/xanadu2016/#!/map/0/12/0/0 I had changed that site's URL, and leave the root mostly empty to discourage crawlers. That's the map of xanadu from my snapshot of ...

Re: Mine Little Testy Server BETA (mlp themed), *RE-RELEASE*
Are you still active Mystic? I asked one of the players on your server, and they said you were more active on Xanadu. I would have read the rules, but they are kind of not there (as stated earlier) and you are the only admin on the server. I need interact on the server please. My username on the se...

Re: Creating a server on Digital Ocean.
Running minetestserver within an interactive terminal poses inherent risks particularly if you suffer from poor or lost connectivity. The process does not exit gracefully during a HUP signal, for example. Instead it is immediately terminated. You might want to setup an inet.d service or use the noh...

Re: Creating a server on Digital Ocean.
Dude.... How much does this cost? DO's smallest node is $5.00 a month, but only 512mb ram; which may be too little for all but a few users on the server. The saving grace here is that DO uses SSD's for all their local storage, so MT can query + write the database pretty quickly. Vultr has 1gb ram n...

Re: Xanadu Server
I can't view the map, I keep getting error 502 Bad Gateway all day. Sorry about that -- I always work with it with a direct internal link on my network, and I don't always see if the public URL is down. It should be back up now. Let me know(via private message) if there are any areas that need to b...

Re: I'm searching Server-Scripts
Why not use a process supervisor, like systemd, or runit/daemontools? (And if you're crazy enough to host on windows, something like https://nssm.cc/ to register it with Windows' service manager) Either of those supervisors will watch the minetest server process, and restart it *immediately* after i...

Re: Xanadu Server
The other thing to keep in mind; is that the limited + carefully curated and maintained mod list on Xanadu allows it to have minimal lag, even with 40 people on (it's current max players)Andrey01 wrote:For me It seems a little one, because i have very many mods (100 mods) in my servers

Re: Xanadu Server
Just to be clear ..... iska is a player who is a moderator . Not a code modification applied to the server. The message "owned by iska" is just because the player being struck was in an area covered by a protection block owned by iska. By necessity, the public tree farms cannot be protecte...

Re: Xanadu Server
Just to do a quick 'smell' check /estimate on the numbers: The Emporium area (2 dimensionally) is rougly 630x512 nodes. That gives us 322560 nodes^2 total area. A protection block covers 17x17 == 289 nodes^2 area. 322560 / 289 = 1116.12 protection blocks. So we're in rougly the right ball park. The ...

stefan is the name of minetest developer that built the release you're using. The key message for you is: "run: A fatal error occured: Failed to save block: database disk image is malformed" Your map.sqlite file is corrupt. *OR* perhaps you have 2 copies of minetest hitting the same map.sq...

For some reason i cannot join Xanadu anymore. It keeps telling "Connection Timed Out." while the server actually is on and players are online as well. Any ideas how to solve that? Can you ping the server? Since it opened up, there's been a lot more random crashes. Too many people using un...

Re: Xanadu Server
Oooo! An oppertunity to post this! https://xkcd.com/936/ It is very easy to get passwords for players who use short/weak passwords. IIRC MT doesn't have any built-in login rate limiting, this would have to be implemented via a mod. Ergo, if the server is not well maintained, or not well watched, you...

Map ... "Blending" ? as in merging multiple maps? That's what I've been doing with mt.jjayr.com -- I built a merging tool in perl, that appends to a master copy of the file, an keeps all 'patches' seperate. It snapshots the file on a weekly basis, so If I have to rewind, I can. It turns ou...

I tried that (mapping the whole map in one pass) .... once :) IIRC It took out my computer, requiring a reboot. The map on mt.jjayr.com site is also generated with the minetestmapper, but I'm doing it in chunks of 256x256, and then using imagemagick to stitch them into larger zoom levels https://mt....

we started with a new map when minetest 0.4.14 came out this year. if you didn't login since then, then you are a "new" player. There was also a text-file reset (which includes player files) which took all our inventories back a few weeks. (this happened early last week or something?) I i...
