Re: Server Crash ! - probably because of libstdc++

it is version 5.0.0 and by "coredumpctl" ... do you mean this from the package "systemd-coredump" ?, if this so, i dont have systemd, i have initd ^^ Hey, I'm just trying to help you. If you want to make things more difficult, have at it. Without a stack trace, or a reproduction...

Re: Server Crash ! - probably because of libstdc++

We can't see what the stack trace was. Please run `coredumpctl` and see if you can `coredumpctl debug <pid>` or otherwise get a stack trace. If this happens a lot and quickly, you could try and run the server under `gdb` to try and capture a stack trace through there. What version of Minetest is thi...

Re: Pixlexia[WIP]

If you can't do github, please upload to contentdb.minetest.net, so players can use the in-game content manager to install this texture pack and get updates.

Re: Minetest for Scientific Research

- make the sheep less dumb maybe. Let it search for grass and attempting to not die might be difficult enough. It might find out where to look best for grass by wandering around and analysing the terrain for biom clues and it might be able to learn from falling of cliffs or venturing into water ......

Re: Minetest for Scientific Research

While training, a machine needs to run many, many, many instances of the simulation to eventually determine the correct actions to take. There are no such rules, so any AI will have a really hard time. You probably want to consider making several different goals and define them: - a PvP goal: slay ...

Re: Dual-wielding in Minetest

As I posted in a different thread, it's technically possible but needs a lot of work - the animations all need updating, and currently the engine doesn't support animating left and right arms separately. Damage with the offhand is also not implemented, etc.. There is a lot to supporting this that ma...

Re: Can the hand (or item) appear on the left, or not at all

You would also have to modify the player model and add new animations to properly make left-handed players appear in the game. Otherwise a left-handed player appears right-handed to other players. So, this is just really complex. It would be great if someone had the time and energy to implement all ...

Re: [Game] Inside The Box [insidethebox]

This is getting too tricky to me. I give up. But thanks for the help and patience. Sorry, a lot of details are just in mine and nore's brains and code, and not in any sort of documentation. The feedback is greatly appreciated, I think we've already gotten some major improvements out of it and there...

Re: Technical discussion about cheating and hacked clients

If it's already compiled liek F-droid, Win 64 ect, why would this not be a great idea? I mean sure there's various linux distros, lots of work there but at least do the top 5 or so most popular ones. Because people who cheat don't download through F-droid or Win64. They compile their own clients, o...

This is DRM. DRM and Open Source are incompatible. Either you are DRM, or you are Open Source. You can not be both.

Re: Windows 10 Minetest Malfunction

The screenshot shows that your device supports OpenGL 1.1, which is really old. It is likely the cause of the visual problems and I think minetest requires at least OpenGL 2.0. You can try however switching rendering engine settings, but I don't know if that will help. Going back to an older Minetes...

How many of those 150 mods were vulnerable? Just a handful, I think it was 3 or 4 How many of the developers that you reported the vulnerabilities to understood the issue or cared enough to fix it? all of them How do you expect future mod developers to find and fix vulnerabilities in their mods, un...

Re: Technical discussion about cheating and hacked clients

the best legal way to push them is, not using it anymore , mean mts, game or the mods. So easy. And every server, not maintained, not moderated, not kicking cheater out is BAD advertising for the game anyway. So if keep like this, minetest has no better future at all. (where had my 1st post gone ab...

Re: Technical discussion about cheating and hacked clients

Yea but up to a point, if people don't work internally after a reasonable length of time then isn't it fair to proceed with a responsible disclosure? Yes, but I don't think that most people understand what that means. It doesn't mean you publish zero day exploits without warning to users, for insta...

Re: Technical discussion about cheating and hacked clients

After that why give them the slack? One way or another you need to give some people a "push" to fix a outstanding issue if internal means fails for x amount of time (and not like a year in most cases). You seem to be forgetting this part of the software: 15. BECAUSE THE LIBRARY IS LICENSE...

Re: Question about Minetest's Server Setup

There is no guarantee that any process can prevent a system OOM.

However, from what I've seen, an actual linux kernel OOM is highly unlikely caused by Minetest.

Re: Technical discussion about cheating and hacked clients

Audit the engine and game as much as possible would be cool to. It would be great to have someone who only focused on security. The knowledge and experience needed to understand security issues AND do something meaningful about it can only be gained by actually working on the engine/game... so thos...

Re: [Game] Inside The Box [insidethebox]

After creating a box, the entry and exit area seem to be broken. It's a strange wooden room with no possibility to enter the box door (see bug tracker). How to fix this? There are 2 hardcoded entrance/exit "boxes" that are in the git repo. These are not very good. We could import the offi...
