Re: My SuperTuxKart kart containing Sam, the default skin
he said Super Tux CArt not SuperTuxKart maybe Super Tux CArt uses lua idk (someone pls make a Super Tux CArt mod :P ) Damn, I'm not familiar with Super Tux CArt, but that's because it isn't that well-known. Maybe I can consider making a port of this kart for that game, but it's not too likely (I sh...

More 3D model formats support - SPM and glTF
After hearing about the news that the next Minetest version 5.5.0 will be using a custom fork of Irrlicht (the engine powering this game), I thought that this would make it easier for me to introduce new features and fixes. I don't have to worry about sending fixes to the upstream Irrlicht anymore, ...

Re: My SuperTuxKart kart containing Sam, the default skin
SuperTuxKart does not use Lua at all, but it does use AngelScript for scripting in tracks. Minetest mods cannot be used as-is over there at all.debiankaios wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 08:06Super Tux CArt is made also in lua. This mean this should be work!

Re: Minetest 5.4.0
Wow, the changes to Minetest Game have surprised me for good! I never knew that a crafting guide would land as part of it (now I don't to wonder about how to make certain recipes). The changed block sounds for sand, stones, and metals are a major improvement. All of these and the various other chang...

Re: My SuperTuxKart kart containing Sam, the default skin
Nice! But the furnace image looks a bit blurry. Also, is it just me or is the cart floating? https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=23521 Every texture used in STK always has some interpolation applied, no matter the size. This makes small textures look worse unless they are ...

My SuperTuxKart kart containing Sam, the default skin
To mods: please move this somewhere else if here isn't appropriate A gift from me for the new year, also in part as a follow up to ShadMOrdre asking me about another kart like this (that I couldn't locate). Made for SuperTuxKart , mostly staying true to the blocky appearance of Minetest, with a few...

There's more that SuperTuxKart implements: Use SDL2 for window creation, allowing better gamepad support A (likely) better GUI system, with skin support Android version, with iOS version coming in a future release Potential Vulkan support in the near future (not yet here) Add emoji support, complex ...

Re: Is it possible to replace the standard cubic user model with custom one?
Nice! Is there any way to convert MakeHuman model into chchar-compatible one? Export your object as one of the following formats: local file_ext_3d = {"x", "b3d", "md2", "obj"} The OBJ (for static models) and B3D (for animated models) formats are the preferre...

Re: Use SuperTuxKart's Irrlicht fork for Minetest?
Minetest fights Irrlicht more than working with it. To give an example: Irrlicht and Antarctica have some complex lighting systems that can look really awesome. Minetest, on the other hand, doesn't even touch Irrlicht's lighting system but uses its own. Many problems we have aren't Irrlicht's fault...

Re: Use SuperTuxKart's Irrlicht fork for Minetest?
I seem to recall someone did something along that line around here sometime in the last year. I thought it'd be a cool idea because my son and I enjoy STK and MT. I'm talking about that I did not find such a kart on https://online.supertuxkart.net/index.php . If you can find the kart and its Blende...

Re: Use SuperTuxKart's Irrlicht fork for Minetest?
Not to mention, by collaborating with another project, MT essentially gains more devs who are already well versed in the language and requisite skillset. This is only a WIN / WIN. Not to mention cross marketing with a rather well known foss game can up MTs stature and status as a must have go to op...

Use SuperTuxKart's Irrlicht fork for Minetest?
Instead of a switch to a different game engine (as found on https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22618 ) that certainly has significantly different interfaces that would require rewriting the graphical aspects of Minetest, I suggest something as a middle ground: Use the Irrlicht fork f...

Re: Is it possible to replace the standard cubic user model with custom one?
I wonder, whether it's possible to replace the standard user model with customized one. I suspect it would be necessary to modify the way the game works with player model, to make it more realistic (more like Second Life/OpenSimulator). My mode at https://gitlab.com/Worldblender/chchar makes it eas...

Greetings, I really hate to be the one to bring this up however there seems to be an awful lot of griefing on the server lately. Re: Minetest Game now in maintenance/bugfix-only mode, no feature PRs accepted
It's somewhat disappointing that there won't be new features coming in at least for a while, but there likely will more positive things coming out of this change than negative. If/when I can get around to modding again, it means that I won't have to catch up with a moving target anymore, knowing tha...

Re: [Mod] Mobs Redo [1.51] [mobs]
I just published altered versions of mobs_npc that enable mobs to build structures, using code from open_ai (https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16032). The altered file is specifically npc.lua; no other files were altered. The altered code can be found in two different places: https:...

Need help for my senior design project involving AI/ML
Since my last post from the beginning of this year, I haven't made much progress on my senior design project, besides the mod involving changing player models ( chchar ), but the other two parts (building-maker) and (auto-explorer) have not been worked on a lot. Instead, for most of this time, I hav...

Re: What can I do for my senior design project to help Minet
One part of my senior design project is now in a working state (and before I'm back at school): Change Player Model (chchar). The forum post for is it is at viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24013. Again, the project repository is at https://gitlab.com/Worldblender/chchar.

[Mod] Change Player Model [chchar]
Finally, I'm back with my first working mod, having resumed from the last Saturday December 28 in 2019. Change Player Model is now in working state, with the help of code from skinsdb . As a result of this, the license is now GPLv3, although I didn't have a lot of real code before this change. The m...

What can I do for my senior design project to help Minetest?
For the 2019-2020 school year, I have decided that I turn my WIP mod, chchar (Change Player Model) at https://gitlab.com/Worldblender/chchar into my senior design project. This mod will do what skinsdb does with skins to the default player model: load custom 3D models that can replace the default p...

Re: Minetest 5.0.0
Great! I'm lucky that I haven't written any mods yet. They'll all be made with Minetest 5.0.0 and later in mind, so I don't have to worry about rewriting anything code-related.
All that I have to do now is wait for Linux binaries (specifically DEB and RPM packages), and I'm ready to try what's new.

Re: Change player models (+ SuperTuxKart models + SSBU model
I knew that the Smash fighters would become problematic if I bundled them together with my mod code, so my side plan is to use SuperTuxKart character models so that this mod can be used OOTB while being fully compliant with open-source licenses. The expanded plan is: The SuperTuxKart character model...

Change player models (+ Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighters)
Some background information at https://github.com/SE2Dev/io_anim_seanim/issues/7#issuecomment-468137563 I'm planning on creating a new kind of mod that will enable the following: Allow changing the default player model to something else, although it can still be accessed.
