Ah yeah, totally forgot about it. Who maintain the database?GreenDimond wrote:No, it does not make sense. The ContentDB already exists for this purpose, and it's cross-platform because it's built into Minetest.

Does it make sense to create linux repo for mods?
I'm thinking of creating linux repository for mods. By putting many mods as possible into 1 single 3rd party repo. With linux repository you can, - Get latest mods version immediately. - Install many mods very easily because the package manager will put the mod into the correct folder for you. - Aut...

Re: Other, Superior Open Source Game Engines Exist Now... :D
If we would like to migrate minetest to godot engine, would mapgen and mods must be rewritten? Can we build minetest in godot in such a way that old mapgen and mods still work? Is it possible?

Re: Other, Superior Open Source Game Engines Exist Now... :D
Found this Godot Voxel Github page.
https://github.com/Zylann/godot_voxel
https://github.com/Zylann/voxelgame
The code is not under GPL license tho, but extremely permissive one.
Edit: just found that Godot implement simplex noise in 3.1, so maybe zylann voxel is not necessary anymore.

Night is too dark even gamma at 3
The night time in MT is pitch black, only a silhouette of trees exist. The moon light isn't helping either. Can I make night time visible somehow? I change gamma to 3, doesn't help. Thanks

Re: Minecraft announcement E3 discussion
First post here. I have actually just come to Minetest after being a Minecraft player since Alpha. Reading between the lines, "continuing to offer support" for the Java version of MC means they are putting it on life support while they push the Windows 10 Edition and its cross-platform ab...

Rescaled 4k, Shaders stolen from the minecraftforum that they should have added since 3-2 years ago, and crappy community that applauds to that. I still wait mod support from Minecraft, but so far nothing. The "crossplatform" thing is something that Minetest did before Mojang even thought...

I'm not trying to argue mt vs mc, just discussion, what do you think?
Notable new features are support 4K resolution, super deluxe graphic(shaders without external mods), can play across multiple platform( no mention of linux), etc.

Re: About 0.4.17
I think we should optimized the engine to render and generate map faster. For example, I read some where that minetest render each block even if the block is 1 big block. I not programmer, but I read somewhere that lua is some what bottleneck?

Re: How to make underwater less dark?
By default light level reduces by 1 per node underwater, so 16 nodes down it will be at minimum brightness and the water post effect colour will overpower anything you can see. You could make water clearer by altering the 'post effect colour' in the node definition. The only way to make underwater ...
