Map-Gen Questions : 1) Latitudes 2) Knob-Twiddlers
. Hi All Seeing regular mentions of Perlin noise in the context of map-gen throws me back to greyscale bump mapping exercises with early versions of Photoshop and 3D-modellers that have long-since gone to meet their programmer in the sky. I know nothing of the details of Minetest map-gen design and ...

Re: Opinons needed: Possible change in map block serializati
. . . you can not play on your maps on other versions of Minetest after you opened them in this version . . . the server has to be new to be able to read the map . . . If this PR is merged, once you open a world with a server you cannot then afterwards open that world with an older server . . . Fro...

Form or Substance
Separating each sentence into its own paragraph makes the separation meaningless, and is just as bad as an unbroken wall of text for readability. . Hmm. Okay. Thank you Byakuren for your feedback, although not the type of ''comments please'' that are most needed. Ocular/eyesight issues influence my...

Re: Successfully activating mods
Hello all, I was wondering if anybody could aid me in activating mods (Linux). I have installed both Creatures MOB-Engine and Animals Modpack. Once installed I am able to see them in MineTest and supposedly activate them in a world. However, once I load said world there are no animals or creatures ...

lessons to be learned
Your minetest_game and minetest version seems to be incompatible, you will need to update both to 0.4.15. Hmm. Interesting. We've learned something : the minetest application and its _game have to be compatible versions. What we haven't been told|explained|taught|educated is --- from the small end-...

re: minetest-dbgsym and versions from ppa
. Hi Thanks for the suggestion What even is minetest-dbgsym? As far as I understand what Fixerol recommended , minetest-dbgsym facilitates debugging. My desire is not merely to achieve a situation where there are no longer problems for me in the here-and-now. If possible, it is always better to exte...

minetest-dbgsym..? ... repos, versions ... a confusing mess.
Chain of events : With my recent question failing to elicit the hoped-for expertise, I'm still thrashing around in ignorance. I saw lordfingle's post about debugging minetest . Debugging software like he's doing is not in my skillset. But I searched and found Fixerol's post : Minetest 0.4.14 . I rea...

Two Questions ( Experts Needed )
. Hi After months of trying, an interesting sub-game is still crashing for me. Its author is obviously not a native-English-speaker, and possibly not sufficiently knowledgeable to help. TL;DR Two Questions : 1 ) - is it appropriate ... and if so is it enough ... to simply substitute deprecated-funct...

Re: Help Meh. How to use systemd ubuntu server?
I did apt-get minetest-server, Repo outdated 4.13, but it worked and started on boot. So I changed the directory to my 4.15 dev build, that worked, the .minetest.conf file worked but it's not detecting everything below my /world folder. player files, the map or anything. I've tried moving these fol...

Are you running a complicated setup with multiple servers with multiple configurations and multiple other-things-to-consider..? If so, I have no idea if it's safe to rename, sorry. re : world name change
Is it safe to change world's name just by renaming corresponding folder in ~/.minetest/worlds/ ? In world's folder there are many data like metadata, map itself as sqlite database, and so on. Maybe world name is presented there as well. How to change world's name correctly? Are you running a compli...

Curious, Are you sure you've installed the mod into the correct mod folder? re : villages, minetest.conf, and Mod-Security
I'm starting to wonder if there's something different about the binaries supplied by the minetestdevs ppa repo, because I've encountered odd issues before, where it seemed I was the only one having issues but others were okay, and when I built-from-source locally and ran-in-place the issues disappe...

re : no villages forming
CuriousNoob, mg_villages works with minetest v0.4.15. The reason you are not seeing villages, is because you have not installed any of the village mods. If you download the Villages modpack, it includes everything. You have to update the handle_schematics and the mg_villages mods within the modpack...
