Re: 3 reasons to *not* rename Minetest
> A new name for Minetest should in my opinion include the word "engine" in it. Minetest isn't just an engine, but also a game/content launcher and server browser. Having "engine" in the name could prevent some normal users from installing minetest because they think its sole pu...

Notabug.org is slow and times out - possible causes and solutions
Some days when I use notabug.org to look at mod repos or report issues on them, the page times out such as with a terminated connection error about 8/10 times I open a page or refresh. This has been going on for a long time. Today I researched it and found out that notabug.org is being used as a bac...

Re: Incomplete Blitz3D exporter/importer for Blender 2.93 LTS
VirtualBrightPlayz almost imports animations (!)--help out there if you can. The fork only as empties for now: https://github.com/VirtualBrightPlayz/io_scene_b3d . To make it use bones, the relative offset of the child needs to be the tail (not the head like in the empties it generates currently). M...

Re: Mod configuration options, settingsypes.txt
Thanks for the insight, that is useful information to know. My primary concern with settingstypes.txt is it seems to be tied into the menu system of Minetest. What about the many server operators that work 100% of the time in a console and their Minetest engine was compiled only as a standalone ser...

Re: Working & wonderfull Mintest IDE, based on ZeroBrane Stu
I've clarified the licensing and authorship of lua-users.org using info from the mini charter and JohnBelmonte respectively (see README for complete description of authorship and licensing). I've also added a fallback license to MinetestIDE (it is said to be "based on ZeroBrane Studio" so ...

If anyone is serious about collecting some historical data, perhaps should consider making an interview with celeron55. Re: Who Knows the History of Minetest?
Today is your lucky day! In a huge coincidence, I updated the information in the wiki page about the mapgen evolution today: http://wiki.minetest.net/Map_Generator_Evolution But only for the development since 0.3.0, anything before that is beyond my motivation. To learn more about the very early hi...

Re: [Debian / Ubuntu] 1-line script: install Minetest Git
For some reason it wouldn't compile due to missing lua.h ("lua.h: no such file or directory") on Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver, even though present in ./lib/lua/src/lua.h (where . is git version of minetest). This happened even after installing libluajit-5.1-dev liblua5.1-0-dev as per the 1-l...

Re: [Mod] Advanced Ban [advancedban] [0.1]
How is this better than the default ban mod? Someone could get banned with the troll account and simply join with an other one. Also, how about using minetest.register_on_prejoinplayer(function(player) return "You have been banned" end) This mod is still useful in at least one case where ...

Seems not to affect the built-in elements like health only, but also mod-added ones. https://github.com/4w/hunger_ng/issues/5 hunger_ng's new git repo is on GitLab. If you have details about how that issue affects that mod, help the author keep track by reporting the issue again here: https://gitla...

Hi, I made 2 new PR for the french translation. One for the translated strings and the other with formspec adjustment because french strings are longer. (I actually did that some time ago but it was messy and I made a mistake on github that caused me to re-fork re-edit, and re-PR, so that was final...

Re: [Debian / Ubuntu] 1-line script: install Minetest Git
There is an issue in the original 1-line script that also was causing trouble in my version. I didn't notice this until recently. This is only an issue for silent install (such as in my case). If you are trying to make a silent install or remote install, the part where you run minetest should be rem...

[Mod] farming redo for treasurer [git] [trm_farming_redo]
This trm (treasure registration mod) registers farming redo items (via Wuzzy's treasurer mod). The items are probably all items you want as loot from TenPlus1's farming redo, except that hemp is commented in case it is used in schools or you have other reasons for not encouraging virtual hemp farms....

Bones log and chat, separate toggles (need feedback for PR)
I have been using this on my server and thought other people might want it (feedback is welcome), especially since it is optional. The changes include two options (for minetest.conf) which can be enabled separately, or both can be enabled: * ` enable_bones_logging ` ( boolean, default false ): When ...

I copied this to GitHub before it is lost forever. It is low-priority for me, so if there are bugs please fix them and submit a pull request. I used LionsDen's fork, and found a copy of the documentation from minetest-megapack.

Re: [Mod] Spawners [0.6] [spawners]
Seems to be an engine issue since 0.5-dev is still in development https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/6590 ..try to use stable version instead Thanks for looking into that. Yes, it was working fine on 0.4.16 if I recall correctly. I'll keep an eye on the issue there. :edit: tsm_chests_dunge...

Re: [Mod] Bone-Based Animation [playeranim]
I hate to revive a dead thread, but this doesn't work correctly in latest, the player is visually halfway into the ground. :( Please try to write "player_model_version = default_character_v2" in minetest.conf. It has to be player_model_version = default_character_v3 if using minetest 0.5....

Re: [Mod] Spawners [0.6] [spawners]
Can you test this with 0.5.0-dev? The git version of minetest_game that is required for minetest 0.5.0-dev includes dungeon_loot, which seems to interfere. My settings.txt in spawners/spawners_env is: SPAWN_PYRAMIDS = true SPAWNERS_GENERATE = true CHESTS_GENERATE = false but all dungeons have chests...
