Re: Minetest 5.1.0

These are two formspecs with the exact same elements with the same positional numbers except that the second one has real_coordinates[true] . https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?id=20458 They most definitely have consistent coordinates now. minetest.register_chatcommand("f1", { fu...

Re: Minetest 5.1.0

Both horizontal and vertical are possible at the same time. If I remember correctly, you have to place one scroll_container within another and bind it to two scrollbars, but it might be possible with only one. And as for guess-and-check, I meant you know that a button at (1,1), a field at (1,1), or ...

Re: Review of 5.1.0

Yes. The coordinates are now different, but not necessarily better/cleaner if you have complex formspecs. I recently converted all mTimer formspecs to version 2 coordinates and it was just replacing one mess with another mess . But, it's consistent. No more guess-and-check. That's the real reason I...

Re: [DEV] The horrifying "rebase needed"

I've only messed up a rebase once before commiting and that's because I used the wrong command and it wasn't really a rebase. Otherwise, I've always either aborted the rebase or used the reflog.

So no, I've never found rebases dangerous, just kinda annoying and time-taking.

Re: [mod] Sailing Kit [sailing_kit][wip]

Very cool, but immensely hard to control. Rowing is really slow, so when you crash into a cliff/beach, you aren't getting out of it any time soon. Turning is also really slow. But when you get sailing, it's really fun (until you inevitably crash or nearly do).

Re: [mod]yolo[yolo] permadeath - hardcore mode.

Gee, sounds like you're going to run out of usernames fast. But quite an interesting idea. There's probably some use-cases that I can't think about.

Please don't add this to ITB ;-P

Re: Post your screenshots!

I'm sorry. I don't hate on people; I don't do it as a person, ever. But I'm human. If I've hurt your feelings, tell me as much, and I'll apologize. Don't hurt mine in return. But to honor your request, here are some assorted screenshots: Working on an idea I had a long time ago: https://forum.minete...

Re: What's the best material for making a space station?

If you find a silver sand biome, make a bunch of silver sandstone blocks. They look similar to, but nicer than steel (at least in my opinion) and are much cheaper once you find the biome.

Re: Post your screenshots!

super duper realistic landscapes See, that's one thing I would disagree with..... Much of the real world is bright and colorful, but your landscapes are mainly brown, muddy, and desaturated. I would even go as far as to say that's probably why certain people complain about landscape shots in the fi...

Re: [Mod] Advanced Trains [advtrains] [2.0.1 TSS]

I know they're deprecated; I actually made a fork of advtrains a long time ago that was only carts (it didn't go over so well, and I was rather rude about it), and these are newer updated rails. I know some people liked the idea when I made it, but not how I did it. So, these rails are just for if a...

There's also another thread for just terrain. And honestly, this thread is choked with terrain. This should be less of the same things over and over again and some more variety.

Re: Upcoming "Wet Dry Dirt"?

If Minetest Game gets a biome that represents a flooded arid region, will there be "wet dry wet dry soil?" ... and then it gets baked, placed in a pot of water to boil it, dehydrated, and then accidentally dropped into a pool of water, whereupon it is placed in the furnace to dry it off, ...

Re: Strip the default status from MTG

If I was a new user after taking the time to download Minetest and get it working, I wouldn't want to take the time to look for a game for it. I remember when I was a new player, I just wanted to play , and I could. Plus, if we point players to a content repo with many incomplete and/or unstable gam...

Re: [Mod] Advanced Trains [advtrains] [2.0.1 TSS]

I've created a bunch of OBJ models for 45 degree rails. Although I don't use Advanced Trains myself, I figured that I might as well make them anyway. They need to be UV mapped and I think some of the normals have to be flipped (I made these in AutoCAD; I hate Blender), but here they are, if anyone w...

Re: Strip the default status from MTG

Yea, MTG isn't the greatest. But what are the alternatives? MTG is stable and has the most possibilities. Should more attention be given to other games? Yes, but are any of them good enough to be bundled? MTG is the most qualified to be bundled as the default game -- Its neutrality covers everything...

Boring default font: Yeah... it's more important that fonts are legible. I'll take boring, any day. My sentiments exactly. Does this planet look alien enough? Re: How to "advertise" Minetest better ?

We're supposed to be talking about advertising, not hijacking another thread to endlessly and fruitlessly argue about licensing. So, without further ado, I suggest we advertise it with the words of celeron55 himself: The only minerals are coal (and some foolish yellow blocks) Source: http://packages...

Re: Post your screenshots!

Well, despite all my changes to formspecs, I don't think that they are good enough for Minetest. They break the flow of the game, and no normal GUI system can remedy this. But, try as we might, some things, like inventories, require them, and we are forced to use them. Well, hopefully not for long. ...

Yes, this discovery of three pressure plates has been around a while, and there's been a few search parties on what they do (I was part of one). Nothing has been discovered AFAIK.

Re: Are we not worried that Minetest is depending on MS now?

I personally think that Minetest should be mirrored on another site including bug reports and pull requests for backup, but continue to use GitHub as the main site until there comes any reason to move.

Re: [Mod] Mobs Redo [1.50] [mobs]

Actually, meshes in Minetest have to be 10 times bigger when used on entities (don't ask me why), so scale it up by a factor of 10 and it should work.

Similarly, it takes 3 cubic meters of cobble and two small sticks to make a stone pickaxe. That sounds like an incredible amount of cobble!
