I Think it will be usefull if in the inventory are only the chainsaw and full blocks, beacause there would be a lesser number of nodes. Or is there a option for this? If yes how do i enable it? You can add the following line to your minetest.conf, either using the mod settings menu or by editing it...

I think a good way to solve the creative inventory problem would be to add a /saw command that displays the circular saw GUI and remove Stairs+ nodes from the creative inventory in the process. Help is welcome in adding it, see https://github.com/minetest-mods/moreblocks/issues/144.

Actually, I'm not sure that will resolve this because it looks like the crash comes from the fact that there is no string to pass onto the local variable "player". How can I prevent this from crashing the game? Sorry for the delay in replying. Can you test again with Gauges 1.0.1 ? It may...

I am looking for a block for the peak of my roof. I have angled pieces going up at 45 degs and 30 degs, if you have a even number of blocks going up to the peak you can make a peak. -snip- But if you have a odd number, you either leave the peak flat or have one more angled piece and make it offset....

If you're using the official repositories, note that the Minetest package is frozen , which means it won't get any updates until you upgrade your Ubuntu version. You could try the unofficial AppImage I built, which is still on 0.4.16 as I haven't got around to updating it.

Also, out of curiosity, why not use 0.4.17.1 instead of 0.4.16?

Is your minetest_game version up-to-date? Metal sounds were added to it in October 2016 and should be present in 0.4.17.

If they don't comply with the license, contact the FSF, they often help projects defend their copyrights.
