Re: How do we make flowers reproduce is minetest 5.0?

For the curious, can you fill us in on what a good mechanism would like? (Programmer but not a game programmer.) How would you design it if you had a clean slate?

Linuxdirk - is that house on a public server I could visit?

Been thinking it'd be fun to have build-parties. Anyone want to team up for a couple hours to put together a space elevator? Illuna has biomes all the way to y+31000

Continuing to play with ideas from the Small House Movement. This time I wanted to build an all-wood house that didn't just look like a misplaced crate, or make a mess of the surrounding forest.

https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=17452&sid=6cd1c58ef634cc006f8d4cbedfcb1615 I've been taking a bit of inspiration from the Tiny House movement. There are numerous images and blueprints for extremely modest homes, many of them well designed for a person who wants to ...

Re: Why Your Server is Messed Up ;) part 1, Spawn

Otter - nice summary; I've had similar experiences of showing up on a server and not being able to get away from spawn before I starved. Can't remember which, but I remember being especially annoyed on a server that had a public farm, and some admin came along and told me not to take too much after ...

Re: Request for donations for my development work

Not sure if this is your kind of thing, but I automatically give small donations to sites I visit via Flattr. I know they support github accounts, so that might be an easier way to turn things around.

Are you on Illuna at all? I don't speak German, but I think they are based in Germany and have a few more advanced builders and players.

Re: Post your blueprints!

https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?id=17275 I've been playing with a voxel image editor, Goxel , as a better way to make blueprints. So far it's been easy to use and a much more direct way to visualize my builds before I put game-resources and time into them. It'd be fun to see more of th...

Re: Post your blueprints!

So - bad news / good news... Bad news: * Changing the external tile-sets breaks any blueprints that use them. * TileD doesn't handle tiles with different sizes very gracefully, so you'll have to decide for yourself what to do about making two-tile doors. Good ish news: twoelk - your rotated trees id...

Hadn't seen anyone using the Minetest textures directly in their blueprints, but it's pretty easy to set up with TileD. Open source crossovers ftw!

Re: New Mod/Content Database by May

Cool idea, it's inspiring me to imagine how I'd implement the same concept. There's an older "Minetest Bower" site, maybe worth looking into whether that format / api has anything to offer. GraphQL also offers some nice features over REST, though that probably isn't realistic if your teach...

Re: (Just for fun) Why Minetest Game will never be realistic

You constantly look for opportunities to do *hard* labor under *insane* working conditions even though food is abundant, weather is a non issue, and money can't get you anything that wouldn't be easier to just pick up off the ground or make yourself.

Interesting project - you may be over-complicating the requirements. Have you looked at Minetest Bower already? https://minetest-bower.herokuapp.com/ You might be able to accomplish your goal by using the Bower API to handle the centralized mod data. That would make synchronization a much simpler pr...

Minetest Recipe Conflict Detector

Sometimes mods create crafting recipes that conflict with each other, resulting in craft items that can't be crafted. I put together a mod and command line tool to make it easier for server administrators to identify conflicts in their configuration. There's a quick overview here: http://www.codefor...
