Take a look at this: - https://github.com/EvidenceBKidscode/ffiopt - https://github.com/EvidenceBKidscode/ffiopt_demo/blob/master/vmanipdemo.lua I just took a closer look at ffiopt, and I can foresee many applications for this patch. My Snowfall mod in particular could benefit greatly from the Voxe...

Re: Diamond-square mountain landscape generation

I think this can be fixed, if far-away landscape would be displayed not as nodes, but as smooth polygon approximation. That would be an astounding accomplishment, if it's truly possible! I'm imagining a fog-like silhouette for distant nodes (no textures, just a solid color with translucency based o...

My server, Just Test Tribute, is anarchy survival. Yet a large proportion of the player-base is kids in the age range of 7-14. The original server owner, maikerumine, was a father whom played with his son. And there have been many other parents with children that have frequented the server over the ...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute (Minetest S3 Engine)

I think I may have forgotten to mention it back in February, but mob spawners are functional again. I also reworked the general spawning of mobs, so they don't overpopulate any single area, as was often the case with reindeer. https://i.imgur.com/uGYqqyW.png Thanks to talamh and others for bringing ...

Thanks for all the feedback. I've addressed these issues and hope to roll out the next release soon.

Also the first post is fixed at long last, thanks to Wuzzy's persistence. I've added wiki documentation too ;)

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute (Minetest S3 Engine)

Generally speaking, I don't release player accounts. But since the last login of "walker" was September 2016, I can make an exception. After server restart tonight, you should be able to register as a new player.

Re: Basic questions about mobs

Mobs are not included with the vanilla installation of Minetest. You will need to install a mob framework along with corresponding mobs (some are bundled together). https://wiki.minetest.net/Mods:Mobs There's also my Mobs Lite engine, but it relies on an CPP patch to work due its more advanced featu...

Re: [Mod] Auth Redux v2.14 (Authentication Handler) [auth_rx]

Due to multiple reported issues with the awk conversion script by Mac and Windows users, I've decided that I will be switching to a Lua-based converter instead. That is unless someone can troubleshoot why it seems to be broken under platforms other than Linux. While awk is suited for text processing...

Re: [Mod] Funny Shadows [shadows]

Nice job! This is arguably the most impressive mod I've seen this year. What are the prospects of porting it to CPP? I can only imagine it would be significantly more efficient if implemented as an alternative to the engine's existing lighting algorithm. After all, we have different mapgens, so it o...

Re: Irrlicht has been forked! IrrlichtMt created

Personally, I'd be happy just with coloured lighting, dynamic lighting, and dynamic fog effects. And I know all three are possible even with the current API of Irrlicht. It's just that MT doesn't take advantage of those features. So, there doesn't seem to be an overwhelming need to abandon Irrlicht,...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute (Minetest S3 Engine)

I've updated the node and item statistics at spawn. Sorry for not getting around to it last month. As it turns out, not much has changed since February. At some point I will try to set this up as a cronjob so the updates can be fully automated. As before, the stats are divided into 6 categories, dis...

The /block X,Y,Z chat command should prove useful for your needs. Hope this helps!

Rcat v1.0 The rcat utility generates a multi-volume tar archive and uploads each volume to cloud storage via rclone . Wow, I'm ecstatic to see this is the direction the coredevs are going. Kudos! No doubt, forking a project of this scale is a huge undertaking. But I think it's well worth the investment in the long term, particularly given some of the long-overdue bug fixes and feature requests that have been on hol...

Re: A new name for Minetest

No it is not, that topic you linked asks if Minetest should get a new name, I asked for new names. Clearly you didn't actually read that topic, because numerous people (including myself) were using it to suggest new names. Hence this topic is redundant. And secondly, as a newcomer to this community...

Very well stated TumeniNodes. You basically took the words right out of my mouth. I also think Kilbith makes an interesting point: it's worthwhile remembering that at the end of the day this is just a computer game. So it's probably not worth to take it too seriously, particularly if it's impacting ...

And, I don't care who gets pissed at me for saying it, because I have as much right to my opinion, and to vocalize it. The first section of your rant reads like a Bon Jovi song, "I, I, me, me, I" I'm sure I'm not the only one who has felt this way. I've been around since 2016 on the forum...
