Re: [Rant] The Minetest-for-education movement is delusional
I found scientific paper about using Minecraft in schools. https://www.academia.edu/39432911/Redes ... _Education I think that most important thing that children can learn from survival robinsonade is that we are surrounded by civilisation and all this stuff hadn't exist before. You can't just call ...

Re: [Game] Repixture [1.1.2]
I think that MTG screwdriver is very inconvenient. What about of 3 tools. Each one will rotate in its own dimension. Regarding trade book. I think it is unique feature. Lets keep it. I don't see any reason to trade anyway. I could trade more in case of narrow specialisation. For example: I usually m...

Re: [Game] Repixture [1.1.2]
Lumien is a infinite torch, which light up when player approaches. I realised that after I tried to use/place it. Maybe it is good idea to place lumien fragments in caves. It would be great to increase light radius and to decrease size of placed fragment. I don't think that guidebook is good idea. I...

I'm sure it is possible to use some math trick, which allow to avoid iterating over x,y,z. Though I don't have required knowledge to implement it.

Re: [DEV] The horrifying "rebase needed"
If you need local backup, you can make backup branch and rebase develop branch. Backup branch will keep unrebased commits. Your remote branch will also keep unrebased work. There are enough means to protect yourself from mistakes. Though I agree that rewriting history regularly is bad workflow. Keep...

Re: [DEV] The horrifying "rebase needed"
It is common problem in projects with multiple developers. When amount of new PRs greater than 1, then second PR might become obsolete. There are two ways to make second PR up-to-date: rebase or "merge master in develop". Merging master to develop produces a lot of meaningless merge-commit...

Re: Strip the default status from MTG
Look to the battle for wesnoth as good example of merging mods to mainline. They had only a single game in base package at the beginning. Mods which were stable enough eventually became "mainline". Now there a dozen of mainline campaigns. They release their game approx every year. With eve...

Re: Strip the default status from MTG
Ruben made the ContentDB because games are made for MT, not forked from it. The CDB by nature makes Minetest a content distribution platform, there is nothing to agree or disagree about. Ability to download something from the remote server does not make program "content distribution platform&q...

Re: Strip the default status from MTG
I don't agree that MT should be content distribution platform. To distribute content you can just use browser. And that would be more success than having to download and install application, which is used to download and install games. I have Steam, bit torrent and web browser and it is enough. I do...

Re: Strip the default status from MTG
Regarding "providing simple information on what to do with a minetest will be some solution.". I don't think it is good to just showcase names and pictures of the games. It is better to ask player: what do you like to do? with options (I'd like to...): - Relax by gathering things - Create ...

Re: Strip the default status from MTG
So, instead of pushing Repixture as new game bundled with MT 5.1.0 by default, Wuzzy decided to stay outlaw and keep ranting MTG. I don't think that forum threads could change anything. I also think that there should be some default game bundled with MT as long as main menu does not offer simple cho...

Re: [Game] Repixture [0.6.0]
I think it is too easy to complete the game. By "completion" I assume achieving all achievements. Hardest goal is to craft full set of bronze armor, but it is doable in the first few hours. Digging around -100 I found a lot of copper, but very few tin. Should I dig deeper to get more tin? ...

Re: Content database for in-menu installer - add your things
You know, it is possible to add version to the game name. So if author of Cool Game 0.0.1 will abandon development, then his authorship could be preserved. Anyone else could be able to make Cool Game 0.0.2. More than that, with defined version it will be possible to keep mods consistent while they d...

I think it is possible to travel few minutes to reach some non-desert biome.
In addition to dirt and stone, you will be able to find there water, trees and probably food.
I see no problem in making desert biome harder. It gives you reasons to travel

Version 0.5.0, fresh world. New trade window now has more sense. I like that there are some ambient sounds. It adds more immersion. Re: [Game] Repixture [0.4.4] (was: Pixture Revival)
Session 2. I decided to travel around and was quite surprised by village nearby. Villagers are intaractable and it is possible to trade with them. I only needed 1 "trading book" which is crafted with 1 gold ingot. I mentally prepared to visit this village later, when I'll find gold. But I ...

Can you provide more accurate measurements? What was your world settings? How many players have been online simultaneously? It might be a good catch. Though, I'm not sure that it will be easy to change. Map generation is performed only once. Splitting it to two phases will greatly increase complexit...
