Re: How do you think about "Forbidden license" paragraph?

You forget that we are humans, and reserve the right to remove content even if it attempts to violate a loophole

Re: "Inappropriate" content on ContentDB

Is there a list of things that were explicitly banned (i.e. after a decition) due to their content? None have been banned , so far. I've only temporarily hidden "Drug Wars" until I implement some form of content rating I wish you would clarify the exact rules relating to “violence”. Becau...

Re: How do you think about "Forbidden license" paragraph?

Also, other licenses that restrict a certain kind of other use are also perfectly allowed, like a crazy license that forbids schools to use the mod for some reason. Or a license that discriminates against a certain group of people. This has changed: Allowed licenses: The use of licenses which do no...

Re: "Inappropriate" content on ContentDB

I said “convenient”. 99% of users won't do this nor know that this setting even exists. They will certainly not enter “content” into the search bar because they don't know the setting name. 99.99% of users will be perfectly fine with the official ContentDB. The 0.01% who want such content will hope...

Re: "Inappropriate" content on ContentDB

You could multiplex between multiple different ContentDBs by writing a simple web server which combines the resources of the two sites

Wuzzy wrote:there is no simple and convenient way to switch the Content DB URL in Minetest.

contentdb_url = https://mynewcdb.example.com/

Re: "Inappropriate" content on ContentDB

I don't get why people are getting so upset that I don't want to host pornographic materials on my website. Doing so can result in a lot of legal and policy issues, and could result in the site being blacklisted by various filters. It is not in the interest of the community. I don't want to have to ...

Re: "Inappropriate" content on ContentDB

So are you the one and only instance that decides what mods are allowed in the official Minetest Content database? I can veto stuff like this because I host it. “Sexual content” can be used as gameplay feature to establish and preserve a population of vilagers, for example. Not needed whatsoever. S...

Re: [Mod]FFIopt [ffiopt]

I wrote a PR for Minetest that exposed C functions that could be called through FFI, to let modders handle this manually, but it was not taken with a lot of enthusiasm by the core developers. See https://github.com/minetest/minetest/pull/6863 (all appearances of 'ghost' I can see as of this date ar...

Re: Age recomendation for Minetest

Minetest is an engine not a game so it can't have an age rating. The age rating of the mod is a thing THOUGH. If ya'll talking about Minetest GAME then yes. It's like 10 years old I would say, because the game is pretty hard. Finding mese maybe frustraing for youngert kiddos Age recommendation has ...

A pull request would be awesome! Please note that you must have a license for all the images -ie: anything you didn't create from scratch must have been licensed to you under a CC-BY-SA 3.0 compatible license

Re: per-instance mapgen settings

The minetest.conf mapgen setting just set the default settings when creating a world. The settings are then fixed for the world once created. Ie: changing mapgen settings in minetest.conf won't affect existing worlds.

The mapgen settings for a particular world can be found in world.mt

Re: Minetest 6 release candidate

There's no new developer, the features described in this thread would be nearly impossible with current knowledge. The author of this thread is a scammer,...

Re: Minetest-Mods team[Mod repository]

Absolutely. Self-hosting on maybe git.minetest.net was thrown out by the usual suspects ignoring all the benefits it would have due do it causes some work to set up and occasionally updating the user-facing software. I support switching to gitlab, as either a self-hosted instance or at gitlab.com A...

Re: lua string math and loadstring

Manually parsing strings like that is insecure and really not a good idea.

Use a sandbox instead, see how mesecon's lua controller does it: https://github.com/minetest-mods/meseco ... #L436-L553

The next time you do this, please don't forget to update Weblate as well. :-/ This release has touched a few strings. I should stick a post-it note to my monitor which says "Don't forget Weblate!" Are these bugfix releases now becoming standard practice? That would be greatly appreciated....

Re: How to determine, how often an item needs to be updated

The server step should not match the render step. This is completely unnecessary, and will actually result in worse performance. The client already interpolates stuff so things appear smooth. For animating things, make sure you're using move_to rather than set_pos. Don't go below 0.05 on a server. I...

Re: [Mod] Advanced Trains [advtrains] [2.0.1 TSS]
