Re: Should we "advertise" Minetest better ?

The problem isn't with xcode, it is with the app store. It's legal to gpl iOS app, you just can't put them on the app store. Unless the license has changed

Re: Fix licensing issues.

The license file is outdated. I didn't sign any copyright waiver, therefore the copyright is still mine for the code I contributed under LGPLv2.1+

Re: Fix licensing issues.

Lejo, ShadMOrdre: Minetest is copyright-protected by all developers and contributors. Changing the license and/or adding exceptions would (I think) require that every developer and contributors agree - some people are dead now. The texture Licensing is from different people but the code License is ...

Re: Post your screenshots!

The theme looks nice (is it part of the merge?) No, that uses the formspec styling PR: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/pull/8383 I'm not sure how to do spacing around a label properly, as the label size depends on the font size of the system. So instead the label is middle aligned in a 2xPaddi...

This is pretty likely to be merged soon, which will make Scarlet obsolete: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/pull/8524

Re: [Solved, no] Can I use dofile instead of require somehow

In my case I wanted to use a csv library and so I tried to include it with dofile. If the functions inside where global instead of local it seemed that it could’ve worked. I assumed require would deal with this namespace thing but I’ve no idea how it works. You can return things through dofile too....

Re: Can I use dofile instead of require somehow?

Require does not load any C code or Lua by itself. 1. Require first checks if the module has already been loaded, and if so returns it from the cache. 2. Require then attempts to find the module in the package path 3. Require calls dofile on the module so, in code: function require(name) -- Don't lo...

It's worse than that - the last irrlicht release which added any features was 2013 - 5 years ago

Re: There needs to be a server command for producing light.

There is. Look in the "Content" tab of the main menu. It's powered by content.minetest.net

Also make sure you're not using an outdated version, the latest is 5.0.1

It's in Minetest Game.

Re: Other, Superior Open Source Game Engines Exist Now... :D

Godot does look pretty awesome! Calinou is actually one of the contributors to it.

However, the way it does things is incompatible to Minetest. It's a GUI-focused game engine, like Unity

Re: [Tool] Minetest Media Server Java Edition Early Alpha

Directly exposing such a thing without nginx/Apache is very bad practice, and will not perform well. There's a reason why basically all production software is placed behind a reverse-proxy and not exposed directly - because reverse-proxies are fast, allow caching, reduce attack surface areas, and re...

If that doesn't work, then it's a bug which has already been fixed and will be fixed in 5.0.1
