Re: Register ABM that affects all nodes

It's a really really bad idea to register ABMs for all nodes. This will kill performance

It's better to use global steps and manually check around players with LVMs when you want to do lots of updates

Re: secure.htttp_mods not working

Secure settings need to be set by the user (using the GUI or the global minetest.conf), they cannot be set from a game's minetest.conf

Re: Is there any future to Multithreaded Minetest?

Minetest is already multithreaded: map generation runs in a different thread (Lua mapgen will block the server thread, though), as do the server and client. Just naively throwing threads at a problem is likely to make your program slower and crash more. It takes a lot of design and effort to create ...

Re: Mods need better description

So my suggestions for that would be to create categories within ContentDB, which would allow having multiple "tabs". ContentDB's website does have much more information than is available in the ingame menu - including categories/tags, reviews, and longer descriptions. The ingame menu does...

Re: We need more official PR reviewers

The name for an official PR reviewer is "core developer". Having official PR reviewers that aren't core developers doesn't really make sense, unless they're limited to an area like documentation. In order to review code, you need to know how it works which is why having experience with the...

Try disabling shaders in the mainmenu > settings

It would be helpful to see your settings (the minetest.conf file, typically at ~/.minetest/minetest.conf) and the debug.txt file (also typically at ~/.minetest/debug.txt)

Re: Anyone wanna help with an idea (yep its another fork)

I have before. It seemed like a tricky process and I don't have a reason to be that invested. (I plan to develop a commercial game for my engine, while that's impossible with MT) It's certainly possible, and has been done before - see kidscode. A fork won't change anything about the license, as for...

You can click the button in the top right to update all content: https://rwdy.uk/13AYi.png Installed content also always appears first. Re: Irrlicht has been forked! IrrlichtMt created

Irrlicht is a rendering library, it isn't really relevant to servers except for the maths headers. Irrlicht has nothing to do with networking, so clients using different Irrlicht versions can play on the same server. You need at least 5.5.0-dev to build with the fork - this is because Minetest needs...

V-rob and pyrollo were added to the team last year, but the number of PRs is still mostly unchanged. Anyone c...

Re: Is there a way to run an alternative ContentDB repository on my own server?

Here is the source code of ContentDB is here: https://github.com/minetest/contentdb

ContentDB back ups aren't public, because they contain user data. However, it does have an open API.
So you can either use the API to copy packages to your instance, or you could write your own mirror software for it
