What about a mod that changes the visible name

A lot of players push the line on family friendly servers. My thought is that if there was a mod that allowed for a visible name substitution in chat and on the visual display over a players head, it might be an interesting tool to filter the players who push the edge of appropriate behavior.

Re: [Windows] sfan5's builds: 32-bit & 64-bit, LevelDB, LuaJIT

I uploaded my download of your latest to virtustotal.com. It came up as clean. However, two of the virus checkers that are listed on virustotal.com came up with Win64:Evo-gen on the zlib1.dll so what virustotal.com says about AVG and Avast do not match with what AVG and Avast say. The Evo-gen is bei...

Re: [Windows] sfan5's builds: 32-bit & 64-bit, LevelDB, LuaJIT

Sorry, yes, your 5.6. And yes, in this case I suspect it is a false positive, but that is a game I don't generally play till i know more. Worse yet, the information Avast gives on the virus is quite generic which is not always, but is often an indicator of a false positive. When they know, they try ...

Re: [Windows] sfan5's builds: 32-bit & 64-bit, LevelDB, LuaJIT

Avast, my virus checker, really, really doesn't like this version. libintl-8.dll, zlib1.dll, and another file that I cannot remember and now it blows up 7zip before it gets to where I can see it. All the versions of 6.0 I have downloaded are now inoperable. 5.x are still good. Avast has falsely accu...

The work I did here was already insane without fly. Without coordinates, I wouldn't even attempt it.

Re: [REVERTED!] Debug coordinates will no longer be visible for unprivileged players after 5.4.0

On some servers, debug coordinates seem to be there for some users and not all on 5.5. *** Skyblock *** by Telesight I don't have debug coordinates now, but a lot of other players do. I tried several versions of minetest and for me nothing. On a lot of other servers I do have coordinates. I like to ...

Re: [Server] Play Minetest: Simple and Friendly Community Built Minestest Server!

I tried again it dies at "Media 0%. My own guess it that it is the size of the ogg files but I don't know. Don't worry there are other servers I can play one.

Re: [Server] Play Minetest: Simple and Friendly Community Built Minestest Server!

Sadly I can't get on the server anymore. It is partially my fault. I helped get the sound files set up so the Technic Music Player would work and not the media files are too big and my network connection crashes. Ten large ogg files probably did me in. :( Still it is a fun server and if you can get ...

I just want to support that this is quite tested and seems to work without hitch. I am quite particular about things disappearing in mods. The exchange using this software ends up being quite robust and when there were issues, the items did not get sent. I have sent quite a bit of stuff between the ...

Re: Why Your Server is Messed Up ;) part 2, Characters

A lot of good responses have come up here. I am choosing not to defend or reinforce the ideas I present in the original posts here. I want to encourage thought and not entrench ideas by argument. I appreciate the time and the arguments that are made in response to these ideas.

Why Your Server is Messed Up ;) part 2, Characters

Why Your Server is Messed Up ;) part 2, Characters I will try to keep this brief, since I could go for days on the subject. To put it simply and bluntly I think that there is a huge hole in feel and depth because there is such a generic quality to characters in the game. In minetest there are mods t...

Why Your Server is Messed Up ;) part 1, Spawn

Having jumped around on a bunch of servers, I have found a few issues that show up on too many of them. The first issue is the grand and wonderful spawn. Spawn should be a good place to start and a good place to meet up. Then you had to go and ruin it. Worse than that, I helped you ruin it. When I s...

Re: [Mod] Pipeworks [git] [pipeworks]

When using sorting pipes, I find myself turning off more pipes than I turn on. Half the sorting pipes go only one direction at least when I start out so turning them all off can be labor intensive. I use a lot of sorting pipes so I made a simple mod to pipeworks to make setting up the sorting pipes ...

The option to delete instead of just drop might be nice for particular objects. Cobble and gravel both come to mind as targets for this.

Re: Weird Mouse Glitch

I am now getting the mouse drift error. It was not there yesterday and I have swapped mice to test. This is while using Minetest 0.5.0-22ebbe1 and 0.417-3d0617c. Both windows 64 bit builds. I am using a E-3LUE Cobra mouse. The drift does not occur before starting a game, in other software or when I ...

Re: Minetest 0.5 is on the road

It appears that we are currently enjoying the use of 0.5 and 4.16 at the same time with no strong urgency to move everyone to 0.5. I think this is a good thing and it probably gives the programmers a bit more of a feeling of leeway on making changes to the current/future version, 0.5. I currently pr...

With the exception of Legendary, they all spawn on the ore that matches their type. If you are ten away they can spawn. From my estimate of experience that means that from 11 to 16 blocks from you, the monsters will spawn. Platinum (Very Light Green) -100 Cobalt (Green) -650 Osminum (Dark Blue) -100...

You need 20 frames below the windmill for it to function. The windmill itself should be above +50. Apart from that, it can be in a cave and still work. :) So find a mountain and build your tech lab at a high elevation. Or make a tall building and put your tech lab there. Cobble is cheaper than MV ca...

It is on the server you just have to drill down. Take the link remove the specific file go to the directory and then download it. So far it is working brilliantly.

Happy New Year, sfan5!

This version has been really nice and held up for a month!

And now for the complaints. :(

I am getting an unsupported node box version on several servers. I think it is probably time for a new update. Sad really this one has been nice and stable.
