Re: [Modpack] 3D Armor [0.4.12] [minetest-3d_armor]

Thank you for the information! My initial reason for asking was it seemed like I was dropping health at the same rate, even with the armor on, but I'm going to load up a test world and look at it more closely. I believe some parts of the armor offer more protection than others (e.g. a helmet might ...

Re: [Modpack] 3D Armor [0.4.12] [minetest-3d_armor]

1. I see there are 6 slots for armor, but I only appear to have 5 items in the 3D armor mod that will place into the slots (helmet, chest armor, legs, boots, shield) Other mods might add more items, plus six looks better than five. It doesn't matter which items you put in which slots, they are all ...

Re: Get camera position

0.4.x: Hardcode it. 5.0.0-dev: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/master/doc/lua_api.txt#L5442 -> `player:get_properties().eye_height` This doesn't take view bobbing (or other camera animations) into account, though. View bobbing is client-side only, your mod runs server-side (unless you're ...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

The hoppers will be back. The timers will likely fire a bit slower, and likely with a random time to insure they aren't all firing at the same moment. That's good to know. I was worried that this was going to end up like the mailboxes did. This lag does not occur at my dev server, running 100% the ...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

I can promise you one thing. We will not be converting to yet another Hoppers mod again. We started off with the one by Tenlus1. Then we moved to burli's version that worked using LBM and node timers (it also added the sorter). But since that broke all our eleventy-billion original hoppers and side...

Re: Client side node placement prediciton

IMO this should be provided in the Minetest core, not as part of CSM. When a node is registered in a (server-side) mod, there should be a parameter to describe the appropriate prediction (e.g. from a list of built-in predictions, or a custom Lua function). The predictions will be downloaded by the c...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

No. The server appears to be down at the moment (actually down, not just hung). Yeah down. I forgot yesterday was the due date for the bill. It should be back shortly. Sorry guys. The guys over at Rigs of Rods forgot once, and their host wiped the server. I'm assuming that ExeterDad has fixed and t...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

About the hoppers... I thought I removed the node defs to keep them from running during the benchmarking/profiling to see if the hidden processing was affecting our performance. Apparently if they still run, I wasn't successful. Good to know as I couldn't see a difference with performance and I &qu...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

Yeah I reworked the /players command when I was looking for ways to optimize various stuff to improve performance. The command produces a small dialog formspec rather then chat. What you saw pops up for a player when returning to the server. It won't show for anyone for the first login of the day. ...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

Has anyone else noticed that the server is now saying "Welcome back <player name>! There are currently <player count> players on HOMETOWN." when joining? I could've sworn it wasn't doing that even this morning.

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

Server appears to be hung again. Just noticed your post and a quick look at the serverlist shows activity. Did it "self fixum?" or is it still hung? I'm on the go with work, so I can't just log in to check. It is working now, although the last action that I attempted to carry out before l...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

I haven't used it but Mumble actually looks like a good option for a chat platform. It has features similar to Discord but it's self-hosted. It's also quite easy to patch Minetest to add positional voice chat in the game. It would be SOOOOOOO cool to have inbuilt positional voice in Minetest. I'm n...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

Besides, I found that the flowers growth rate had increased after the server map lost. Actually, the growth rate did not increase. Something glitched during the map reconstruction and for some reason the flowers (and grass) doubled in existing areas. I've been theorising about why it happened and w...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

Fixer wrote:To get it, you need to compile debug build of the server and run it under gdb, then during stall, IIRC, you stop execution and then do backtrace to see what happening and report it on github.

That will create a ridiculous amount of lag though.

Re: Berries for bushes.

It should be quite easy to do this with a separate mod. I'd also look at modifying the bush schematics to randomly generate one or two berry nodes in each bush, like apples in trees (AFAIK there's no easy way to re-generate the berries without replanting the entire bush though).

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

In fact it was "stalled" with no output in the debug.txt Really odd. The service was running, and unable to restart. I had to manually kill the process to allow it to restart automatically. I have had that happen a few times when I am writing a mod. Minetest hangs and cannot be terminated...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

I'll likely go another way and set up LBM's so the old blocks are discovered and recorded when the areas are loaded. Maybe you could simply read the locations of the protection blocks directly out of Minetest's database? This could either be done on-demand or at the same time that the map images ar...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

Nodejs is very easy to install and run an application. Not awkward at all. Worth noting that both the server list and the ContentDB use python/flask which is a lot more complicated to deploy than node Node.js (and similar frameworks such as Ruby on Rails) is difficult to deploy alongside an existin...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

I'm thinking about ditching PhBB for NodeBB. It's pretty. But would require me to dive head first into javascript and a Node.js server. I'm trying not to make this decision without some thought. I wouldn't do that. phpBB is pretty timeless and with a modern theme (like the one that you used to use)...
