Seriously people, I give up! Calinou: I didn't even mention zip files. redcrab: I'm fully aware that you can compress and decompress rar in linux natively. My whole point of using 7zip instead is 7zip compresses better than rar and isn't proprietary like rar. My whole point about Wine is you have a ...

Ok, here's the deal. You have an entire game with an 80 MB text file compressed in a rar archive. The whole file is 9.2 MB. Here's my recommendations: Only include files that are relevant to the map. e.g. textures, mods, and the world with a readme file telling people where to put the files. Compres...

The ability to select which mods to include in an individual map when you make a new game. Mod Documentation

I think that all mods should contain it's own documentation inside the mod. Like html files and pictures. Then add a feature in the game which allows the player to view a list of all the mods installed which allows the player to select a mod and open it's documentation inside the game. That way, ins...

Do you use 0.4.dev-20120122-1? I don't think it will work without it... Gardenhead is just a modpack... Try to remove it! ;) I have Minetest-c55 0.4.dev-20120408. I don't have the Gardenhead mod and it wasn't included with the map. Well, you can at least try to use 0.4.dev-20120122-1... :/ I don't ...

Most people find out about Minetest by searching Minecraft clones. I was kind of the opposite. I originally looked up "open source sandbox games" on google. It wasn't until later on I found out about Minecraft.

I was wondering, should there be a Wikipedia article about minetest, or should we wait until 0.4 is the stable release?

First of all, don't start doing anything like this before I have given permission to do so, because you will probably do it wrong and I will just end up reverting the wiki to an earlier version, and you will be sad. Now, if this is to be done, at least these need to be taken into account: Every pag...

Maybe we also need to make separate pages for every node/entity/item and post all the infos about them in there? And add the line that tell what mod is this item object in. The "Blocks", "Items", and "Mobs" pages would have a list of links to a page for each node/entit...

Organizing The Wiki

I've come up with a better way to organize the wiki now that mods are a giant part of the game. (well in 0.4 that is) Here's my proposal. Please tell me what you think and if you know of any way to make it even better. I'm going to type it as if it's what will actually happen (it helps me think for ...

I tried to get 99 steel ingots but it gave me 99 pink squares. Having to put NodeItem or CraftItem is really stupid. It's not like there's going to be two things with the same name where one is a CraftItem and one is a NodeItem.

Here's the problem. Your post in inadequate for a 0.4 server. As of 0.4, Minetest is a game revolved around mods, which you make no mention of which mods you use if any. If you're server was a cereal box, it would be a plain brown box with just a name with no indication of what's inside. (besides i...

You'll either have to compile 0.4 from source or wait till the final release of 0.4.
