Remove old luaentries?
This has been bugging me for a while - when mods that add terrain types or other lua entities are then removed the server starts displaying error messages in the log about the luaentry not being defined. Is there a way to remove these ghost entities?

Minetest Server Utilities updated to 1.9.2
Another update to my utilities - The backup tool now can send out messages to the IRC channel to let people know the backup will be starting soon, when it is starting, and when it is done... You can get it here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/minetest-utilities/ - let me know if you have questions...

Re: Help: Setting up, running, and maintaining a server
If I was to find another mod I liked (say, one that included a bunch of new building block nodes), would I need to create a new world on the server for that? Or could I just install the mod, and the server will automatically push it out to the clients on their next login? It depends on the mod. One...

Re: Help: Setting up, running, and maintaining a server
You can set whatever port you like. Its in the minetest.conf file Yes your server will show up in the server browser if you publish it, also in the minetest.conf file. If you want to allow only certain people to join it you can set a password they need to know. All the mods are done server-side, th...

Re: [Modpack] Villages modpack (contains mg_villages)
I'm aware of the problems with the diffrent village_*-mods. I'm currently working on the replacement mechanism and doing some code cleanup behind the scenes. Once that's done, the diffrent village_*-mods will work again. They will be added to the contentdb the same way as mg_villages, handle_schema...

I have been trying to use this modpack but I get lots of errors. Does it work on modern versions of Minetest?

Re: How to do a proper backup of live server on linux?
"due to the files (usually the world map) changing while being backed up" Just a guess, longer delay would prevent the map changing? Perhaps there's a way to stall the entire conf during a backup? server_map_save_interval = 5.3 What would I change it to only save the map to once per minute?

How to do a proper backup of live server on linux?
I think I have seen this a couple times where a supposedly successful backup can not be restored from due to the files (usually the world map) changing while being backed up. When starting minetestserver I get this: Screenshot from 2020-08-15 11-07-26.png Is there a way to force it to rebuild that d...

Free shared Minetest server
I have a server that is not using it's potential and I would like to offer it for use as a Minetest server to someone who wants a server of their own. The difference between this and my commercial servers is that it will be used for hosting a BBS or MUD for another user as well. If you are intereste...

Can't see if I posted about this recently, so here it goes... https://sourceforge.net/projects/minetest-utilities/ This is a suite of tools to make running a remote Linux Minetest server easier. Starts the MT process at boot time and within 1 minute if it should crash for some reason. Also has a nic...

Free linux server for use by schools
Hello, I don't currently have any servers available for free for general use right now, but I am interested in arranging a server for use by schools. Re: I have a free Minetest server available to first respond
Does whoever takes the server get to choose their own mods? What about a completely different subgame? Can they upload their own map or is it limited to whatever map you've provided? Do you get everything that you would get if you were paying for the regular service or is this service limited in so...

Re: I have a free Minetest server available to first respond
I've used her service before and at that time it was full root access to a vps. I had someone compile for me and I uploaded and installed mods and skins via ssh. Good for noob or tech savvy. I'd jump on this if I was still active in MT. I tried but Google captcha stops me, just read above about tha...
