Re: [solved?] Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
Do you mean that you can run minetest without problems from other than desktop locations? I am running minetest from desktop with a bunch of padlocks on several folders and files, but when I tested both minetest and another app (zorbus) outside the desktop folder, both worked smoothly, when only mi...

Re: [solved?] Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
Hi ShallowDweller! I have noticed that in your lastest log report , the "desktop" word show up in the minetest directory. I know this may sound bizarre, but have you tried to run the minetest from somewhere other place than the desktop? Windows 7 may have configurations that limit the per...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
One thing people should know about "SFC /scannow": you MUST run the command prompt AS AN ADM or it will not help... Right-clicking the command prompt, running as adm and using the SFC /scannow command SEEMS to have solved the problem... for now... several of MT's folders now have padlock i...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
OK, from the get here, you have errors which look like the application does not have permission to read/write to files in your /TEST directory at the very least, and possibly further up the directory tree. Right-click on the minetest.exe file, select Properties, and make sure there isn't a warning ...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
Sorry for the late reply, but after downloading and installing the lastest C++ updates, I noticed something strange... Minetest STILL refused to run, so I restarted the computer to see if it made a difference and... I managed to open minetest right after the system started, but closing the app and t...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
Error log: If there are no system or application warnings prior to this, the event log is unhelpful to me (someone else may gain further insight) as the event 1000 error is exactly what the dialog box said. There was a WMI error in the log but it was a few hours before the MT one... And are those f...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
I hadn't thought anything you have written sounds rude at all. It seems you are merely trying to fix a problem. :) Yes, MSVC or similar is a common abbreviation for Microsoft Visual C++. You may also see MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) for Visual C++. Downloadable runtime installers usually have...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
the event logs may provide more information than the dialog box. there is SFC /scannow, or maybe reinstalling the relevant MSVC runtime version. sometimes runtime errors are caused just by Windows deciding an application should be using some other runtime version than the one actually required. jus...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
After installing Windows 7 SP1 (x64) in VM yesterday and waiting for all updates to complete I tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit build of 5.3.0 and cannot reproduce your issues. Looks like the problem is on my end then... I wonder what happened in my machine: I scanned for malware and fixed what was...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
Since the release of 5.2.0 I have not upgraded the compiler or any libraries, so that's not it. The only Windows-specific change I can think of is this , but that is still supposed to work on Windows 7. IF that happens to be the problem, is there anything I can do to solve it? Also... that change d...

Re: Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0
If you mean the .zip, yes it was extracted before I attempted to run the file, just like I did with the previous versions. (If you meant something else, then I don't know)
There is no debug.txt file anywhere in the bin folder, nor outside it.

[solved?] Can't run minetest engine 5.3.0

Re: What would you think of an online shop mod?
Answering the title question:
I would consider it a waste of space if it couldn't be used in a singleplayer world.
I wouldn't mind paying 500 minegeld for an iron bar, as long as it could be bought without a second player to sell it.

Did anybody mention the fact that you can swim up a waterfall while carrying 3168 cubic metres of LEAD yet? (4059 m3 if you count the crafting grid) Or jump arround the sea like a dolphin on steroids while holding all that weight?

Re: How do we make flowers reproduce is minetest 5.0?
Ideally, i think all plants should be reproducable by seeds/sapling, using nodetimers, no ABMs (as i suggested for flowers in the past, and as we had for mushrooms before that was unfortunately changed to a spreading ABM). Then all plants can be farmed at high density if desired. For spreading when...

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20191103-1616][dreambuilder]
I've experienced the same runtime errors as Rayjack reports, when using your latest build from https://gitlab.com/VanessaE/dreambuilder_modpack. When I use whatever build is currently published at https://content.minetest.net/packages/V ... r_modpack/ there are no errors, so that's the one I'm usin...

Re: Vibrant Lighting
I blame the texture pack you are using in minetest. Well, I think the lighting could use some improvements, but there has already been a recent discussion about it, so I'm hoping the next MT version will have improved something. One way to test if it is the texture's fault is by using MC's default ...

Not sure if the engine allows those, but... Stun Sword : reduces the hit entity's speed to 0 for 1~3 seconds (to make them unable to move?) Dread Sword : inverts the hit entity's speed vector (causing them to move in the oposite direction?) for 2~5 seconds Eco axe : may cause tree logs to drop sapli...

Or we could just remove the dofile protection.lua thing from init.lua so we can easily re-enable it?
ps: YAY! Now I can finaly use that mod in singleplayer! :D I'll test this sometime this week, like a good procrastinator.

notabug.org is very simple and fast, works well with git, can easily transfer github projects over and handle any license you wanna add to your files :) It also doesn't bother you with two-facter authentication which I find annoying in github. As for noob usage, the site gives you commands to enter...
