Re: [Windows] sfan5's builds: 32-bit & 64-bit, LevelDB, LuaJ

There's an issue open for this now.
As a workaround you should be able to set TMPFolder in minetest.conf to C:\Windows\Temp

Minetest 0.4.17.1 (Bugfix release)

Minetest 0.4.17.1 has been released. This release is a bugfix release for the 0.4 series, that means it does not contain new features but just fixes. It is fully compatible with earlier releases of the 0.4 series and upgrading is especially recommend for servers. Changelog: http://dev.minetest.net/C...

Reminder that encryption without authentication is useless. If you don't add something like TLS certificates, MITM is still equally possible. the used LuaJIT version is several years old source? Re: Minetest in schools - Shared computer, disable file acce

You should be able to restrict the modify permission to specific directories, Minetest will usually only need permission to modify minetest.conf and debug.txt . Alternatively there's a specially configured Minetest (with RUN_IN_PLACE=0) that would cause it to place all user data into %appdata%, so y...

Re: ERROR init.lua

That's missing the actual error message, however your Minetest version is way too old.
Take a look at the Downloads page to find out where to get a newer version for your distro.

Re: Looking for server Install guide for VPS Linux/ubuntu.

Thanks! I managed to get the 0.4.17-dev Version now. Also, I haven't found anything on the client / server version mismatch settings, are players able to connect with a client version 0.4.16 to a 0.4.17 server? Yes, 0.4.16 and 0.4.17(-dev) are compatible, which is why you should use the backport-0....

Re: Looking for server Install guide for VPS Linux/ubuntu.

Because people keep doing it incorrectly and asking for a script, here's one. First step, choosing the Minetest version: export branch=$(printf "Enter Minetest version: " >&2;read r;echo "$r") It will ask you to enter a Minetest version. You can enter any numeric version, but...

While adf.ly links are not strictly disallowed, they are generally not used here and frowned upon.
Instead you could link to your Github repository, some description on what the mod does would also be nice.
