Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
I am more than disappointed at how quickly this developed; pups has been a longtime, helpful player of the server, and although we have had our disagreements, we always mutually respected each other and had a great time playing TA together. I hope this isn't the end of that. I want to put this out t...

https://content.minetest.net/threads/7198/ Continuing from this thread. It does look like my minetest version had to do with it. I've just tested on minetest 5.8.0 so that I could get a fresh look at this mod. Firstly- great job with the FIDE rule implementation! I like the move list too, that was a...

I don't think themes are there to stop people cheating. They're there because limitations lead to creativity. It's a lot easier to think of game ideas when you have a theme to start with It's not uncommon for game jams to be fairly open with the theme. Ludum Dare, for example, doesn't require you t...

and partly there to prevent people from working on a game all year and then submitting it at the end. Just another thought: This is why adjective themes just don't work very well, because there's a good possibility you can squash the adjective into whatever game you've been working on outside of th...

Judges have been and would always be allowed to review however they wish, including ignoring the theme. It is also not possible to speak for "the majority of voters", so we cannot say whether or not they will ignore the theme. All reviewing criteria have explicitly been suggestions or con...

Citadel was one of my favorites - well deserved for 1st place, congratulations. Although I preferred Shadow Forest (because I am a sucker for good assets, especially textures, and Shadow Forest felt *way* more polished in this regard), the gameplay of Citadel was unique and much more creative. Howev...

Great summary, Blockhead! +1
Here in the states, people seem to sue at the drop of a hat, so it is really really important to put a proper license on your stuff - both to protect your users and yourself! :-)

Fantastic game again, Wuzzy! (Although I think we may be already spoiled from Glitch last year!) I thoroughly enjoyed this and is my personal favorite of the games in the Game Jam this year. My full review can be found on the CDB page, it also has some useful tips for beginners on how to play and wi...

I love this, nice to see a lot of well known shops getting attention! Great manual, pups :-) Quick note on some of the shops: (1 (Admin Shop) - This has been here since the beginning of the server and has seen a few makeovers. It is very nostalgic and quite a bit of money has never seen light again ...

I guess I'm the weirdo in this thread now, but I prefer Minetest over everything that has been suggested here and I really hope it sticks :-) I guess I've gotten really used to it, but it'd be terrible (from my perspective, at least) to see Minetest under any other name.

Re: [Server] Tunnelers' Abyss
I am not a fan of that decision either. In Hume2's defense, the building was against server rules, but I think InitialD had played plenty long enough to warrant plenty of grace (which ... there was none here), and obviously he put a lot of work into it. :/ I really regret that happened, but at the s...

I would also like to apologize for getting worked up on this topic, and I'm sure I do the same thing (being too harsh on minor subjects) from time to time: working on eliminating that :-) I'm sorry for being argumentative with you, Blockhead, and sorry for detracting from the primary conversation.

Then why are you expecting MCL to act like a European? I'm afraid that is also jingoistic and chauvinist. I'm expecting him to act in international fashion not region-specific fashion. That is is the opposite of what you accuse me of. If you look back at the OP you'll notice the latest edit uses YY...

Why the hate against the American date format? This is an international community and he chose to use an accepted date format. I get that you love your country but its customs are not my customs and it's not acceptable to expect me to act like an American when online, it's jingoistic and chauvinist...

and while their are a few Xtreem mods that are Git-managed, they are currently secret. They will be unveiled on 3/23/23 (TOMORROW!) I am getting tired of your using American date format. It's confusing and unhelpful to an international audience. The majority of the world's native English speakers d...

Re: Terrible lag on kids laptops with gnarly LAN server
Great to hear you've solved the issue. Viewing range can indeed be a big problem. I wish minetest made it more obvious that rendering so many blocks can cause a lot of lag!!
Happy playing to you and your kids.
