Re: Post your screenshots!

super duper realistic landscapes See, that's one thing I would disagree with..... Much of the real world is bright and colorful, but your landscapes are mainly brown, muddy, and desaturated. I would even go as far as to say that's probably why certain people complain about landscape shots in the fi...

Re: [16px] RPG16 - A clean and stylized texture pack

Update v1.1.1 I wanted to wait until the ContentDB version was approved, but it looks like that's going to be a while longer. In the meantime, you can grab a copy here and install it manually. EDIT: It's up now, so you can grab the latest version directly from the content tab. I'll leave the downlo...

Re: Animals

Mobs redo is just the API, you also need to install a second mod that adds mobs. Since you want regular animals, you can try Mobs Animal.

Actually, I stand corrected. Looks like the wield model uses the overridden texture.
Sorry :(

Re: [WIP]256x256 SteamedPunk Texture-Pack[WIP] github

Yeah, the apple textures were to keep the texture nicely centered in the inventory but still have it properly hang from leaf nodes. As for your question, if you make the image bigger and leave it at that, then the apple will look the right size everywhere except the tree. The 2-texture trick I descr...

Re: [WIP]256x256 SteamedPunk Texture-Pack[WIP] github

4) The apple was intentional, i was looking for something that when on a tree it looks the right size, i do think it looks too small in the inventory though. I'll rack my brains on that one. No need to rack your brain too hard, you can do what RPG16 does and have two apple textures: ⋅  de...

Re: How to "advertise" Minetest better ?

I think you're missing the problem there. Minetest is in a bit of a 'catch-22' state, it needs high-quality content if it wants to attract and retain users because the competition is entrenched and staying put is pretty much always easier than jumping to a new platform. On the other hand, high-quali...

Re: [16px] RPG16 - A clean and stylized texture pack

I don't have any sort of official palette. Setting something like that up is on my long-term todo list, but it probably won't happen anytime soon. However , 99% of my textures use indexed color, so the palette for each texture is available within it. Honestly, I worry a little about people trying to...

Re: [64x64]Minetest faithful texture pack experiment [v1.0.1

I think the upscaling filter that you're using isn't enough to make something that looks nice. However , if you put in the time and effort to clean up and polish the filtered textures afterwards, I think this would be a nice addition to Minetest's current selection of texture packs. We could always ...

Re: [16px] RPG16 - A clean and stylized texture pack

Will support for mods like ethereal and moretrees be in the works? And since you've already included support for caverealms, what about Hume2's mod, underch? Yes, they will. I have a pretty long list of mods that I'd like to support eventually, moretrees and underch were already on there. I've put ...

[16px] RPG16 - A clean and stylized texture pack

https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=19364&sid=475a2b06ceccbc89ba6d93b518595662 About RPG16 is a texturepack designed to give a more stylized pixel art look to Minetest. The pack takes inspiration from classic SNES-era JRPGs in its general presentation. Currently, only ...

Re: Why don't we have custom keybinds yet?

You seem to have completely misunderstood me. I'm not saying to hardcode more actions, I'm explicitly arguing against that! My point is that actions should be defined on the mod-level, not engine-level as you claim. Also, some of those keybinds look like an absolute nightmare to actually use in prac...

Re: Why don't we have custom keybinds yet?

I honestly can't think of many mods, other than mods that expand, refine, or otherwise enhance the player experience aspect of the game, that actually could use more than a single action at a time I'm either opening a door, or using the furnace, or ... I disagree. As things stand right now, adding ...

Re: What if there was a mod that gave Minetest a story?

A story could be interesting, but it sounds to me like what you're looking for are long-term goals to work towards in-game. As it stands right now, there's not a lot of that in most content that I've tried: Many upgrades just make you slightly faster at gathering more materials and there's often ver...

Re: Iron WAY too uncommon.

The new ore depths are far better for several reasons, make sure to read the PR https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game/pull/2107 and the issues linked in the first post. There has been a lot of correct criticism of how MTG is too easy and how it is lacking challenge. So first of all, I only see ...

Re: The Dying Platforms Content Salvage Squad

Heh, that’s better! I’ve started that very process with a few texture packs over at Minetest Texture Packs, maybe you’ve seen it. What TPs do you want rescued then? I have my own taste in texture packs of course but one factor to look into is if the pack has large mod support, textures which in tur...

Re: [Mod] Drinks [1.0][drinks]

I grabbed this from ContentDB to try it out, but the mod.conf has 'buket' as a dependency. I assume it's just a typo and that's 'bucket', but I thought I'd point it out so that it could be fixed in the packaged version.

Re: Post your mod requests/ideas here

Since I'm familiar with HTML, C++, and Python, I'm hoping it won't be too hard to use Lua. Can someone confirm that this won't be too complicated as a first mod? Lua's syntax and quirks (arrays start at 1, for instance) may take some getting used to, but it's a pretty simple language overall. Go fo...

Re: Whats wrong with this code?

ah... shouldn't !player:get_player_control().RMB be not player:get_player_control().RMB? It's been a while, but I don't think lua uses ! as an operator like many other languages do.
