Re: Crafting holes. (copper, tin, fire.)

The MTGame core devs think we have too many tool types already and won't add any more. The bronze, copper, tin thing is a mess yes, adding bronze was perhaps a mistake, it's rather redundant, but we couldn't then remove it, so we added tin to make the crafting more realistic. Copper was only added ...

Crafting holes. (copper, tin, fire.)

I should be able to make fire without coal. (Other than inside the furnace.) I should also be able to make copper/tin tools. Bucket, ax, pick, etc. The catch all mod idea thread needs to be an entire subforum. Posting there feels like being told to take a number in the beetlejuice universe. X) Hones...

Re: [Mod] Tectonic Map Generator 0.2 [mg_tectonic]

Agreed, the menu is a little confusing at times, like I didn't know content meant mods, seems obvious in hindsight but yet I just didn't know till someone told me. I thought it was some sort of asset viewer because open source goodness XD Guess I'm not very daring X) I do use other mods but I didn't...

Ahhh ok excellent, now I get it, thank you. So I can install this and any new area I uncover will be generated using this process?

Edit: Still not working.

Re: [Mod] Tectonic Map Generator 0.2 [mg_tectonic]

Downloaded the master zip and I can see it as a mod, but this is a mapgen isn't it? It's a regular mod, all that you have to do is to unzip it and place it in your "mods" folder (its location depends on your platform and the way you installed Minetest), and then create a world for which y...

Re: [Mod] Tectonic Map Generator 0.2 [mg_tectonic]

So how do you install it and use it? Why does every open source fill up with the assumption that everyone knows everything? X) This mod does not show up in the in-game mod installer so instructions are extra needed. Read me lacks anything like install/run instructions. Downloaded the master zip and ...

Re: Iron WAY too uncommon.

I think the point of the change was that people felt there wasn't much reason to mine when iron could be had just below sea level. Forcing players is a bad idea imo when you can invite them instead. Personally, I put a lot of ruins in my game that I can scavange for minerals. How do I increase the ...

Re: moreiron

Couple thoughts: This should be two separate mods so people can decide which way of addressing iron they prefer. Secondly, I think the extractinator approach from terraria is a great idea for gravel. Currently when mining gravel you get a small chance of getting flint instead. I think other items sh...

Re: Iron WAY too uncommon.

So tryhards ruined iron Balancing is hard when you have to balance a system you do not use on a regular basis. Most core-devs do not play Minetest the same way most players do and thus are very biased resulting in very off-center balancing. This is nothing to blame the devs for it's just how it is....

Iron WAY too uncommon.

I don't know where you guys are hiding it but I have flooded and explored like 10 cave systems and haven't found a single deposit of iron. Can someone tell me a reliable specific way of finding iron? Re: Post your mod requests/ideas here

My wishlist for mods would be in a modular realism. Mods that add single aspects of reality. So that players can get just the ratio they want of realism and escapism. I'd like to see: A geologist grade mapgen, so that I might actually learn stuff about the real world prior to human modification whil...

Re: There needs to be a server command for producing light.

Tangent: Wielded light should be merged with minetest game imo. And I feel like the core team should be taking apart the big multimod projects and breaking them down into plugins so people can mix and match aspects without having to go whole hog. This is a tangential goal of http://github.com/minet...

Re: There needs to be a server command for producing light.

I appreciate the context. I honestly hadn't even considered it was a technical issue. But the wielded light mod is a perfectly serviceable work around until a better one comes along imo. Tangent: Wielded light should be merged with minetest game imo. And I feel like the core team should be taking ap...

Re: "Failed to download" (mod_name), Browse Online Content

Did that thanks, same error. I noticed that if I fail a download and then start a game I get a more verbose error message.

SSL connect error response code 302 on pixel perfection for example.

Sidenote: It would be super handy if the mod browser linked to contend db or something.

Do you are online when you try to download a mod? Yes. :) Have you got the newest version of minetest?? And the firewall does nothing to disable to download mods Correct. But I just realized in testing that it's two specific mods that won't download. Wielded Light and Showbones Edit: PixelPerfectio...

I disabled my firewall completely to be sure it wasn't a stray rule. Not sure where to go from here, is there a more verbose error message somewhere?
