Re: [Server 5.2.0] Asia Thailand : OPEN

I think it's a good idea to keep a public log of bad players isps with a description of what the admin believes to be bad.
The only way to see their true identity would be a illegal port scan for 30000 udp or whatever of that last 1-3 digits of the ip.

Re: can someone host a server for me

Since you have someone willing to help maintain a server, I'd look into renting the cheapest VPS that will handel what you need. Tell Walker what mods/number of players you want and he should be able to figure how big ( memory/cpu) you need.

Re: Low FPS

Probably Win10 doing whatever it wants, whenever it wants. It made my moms comp so sluggish i replaced it with a lite linux distro ( she only knows how to use a browser anyways) Minetest and 0ad are now 100% playable, before both were like 000.1 FPS. Bulky OS doing dozens of unwanted tasks in the ba...

Re: Saying goodbye and sharing my 1 year perspective

Zughy, I'd just declare Ruben Wardy the offical king of Minetest. 1. handsome enough to use his real mug, shows up at public events. 2. Deals with Aholes like Mr Spock, uses logic and doesn't get emotional then wins. 3. Content DB. Doesn't bloat MT with his creation but creates something that preven...

Re: Need Help getting my server on the server list

I can't stress this enough: You don't need to set your IP in minetest.conf for server announcing, it will only bring trouble . server_announce = true alone should be enough to have your server appear on the list. If it doesn't that means the server list cannot reach you and you likely haven't forwa...

Re: [Server] Xanadu

@GayJesus Are you able to drop sand or gravel on your own track and break it? No, on my 5.4 with mods updated about 2 months ago. I suspected this because I was able to drop sand and gravel onto protected areas of Multicraft servers less than a year ago. When Survival X was popular, 2 years ago I g...

Re: Need Help getting my server on the server list

Hi All i did everything right to get my server on the server list.. I port forwarded and all.. why isnt it listed? Any help would be ever appreciated! :) Biggie! seems like the server list would only need a outgoing tcp to advertise your server on the list. I think the port forwarding instructions ...

The Xanadu thread is back to normal! (:
Maybe someone should check to see if dropping sand or gravel onto a protected track will remove the track. This used to be a common grief that bypassed any protection.

Re: Hacking - Security

Servers sending your ip to multiple networks such as irc and Discord doesn't help, so yeah it's probaly easy to get your ip. The only evidence i've seen of passwords being stolen looked like social engineering. The "hacker" simply tricked the user into giving them their pass. Make a decent...

Re: One way doors in servers

I'm trying to implement one way doors in a server. Initially I put a steel door (so that only I could open it) and in front of it a pressure plate. So when I stepped on the plate the door will open. But the door will only open for me, not for other players. How can I have that any player that steps...

Re: Any way to make lights brighter?

It is impossible to illuminate rooms more than 9 blocks high with ceiling mounted lights. Is there any way to change this ? The experts told me that non natural sun light is limited to 16 nodes. The only way to expand non natural light is to manipulate the air nodes. This is the only mod I've found...

Yeah, only for people with local network logins to be able to access it. The one that I remember didn't require any specific minetest login for users, it just logged them straight in and their screen name above their head in game was their network username That sysadmin editied minetest to run via ...

Yeah since ver 5 gama no longer works and caves are 100% dark beyond a few nodes of a torch. Give these mods a try. I edit mini_suns init.lua top line "range = 40" will light up a fairly large cave without crashing on my old desktop. Bright nights ( won't brighten caves) https://forum.mine...

Re: Servers claiming to offer 0.4 and 5?

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but in one post it says "EdgyNet is testing beta software." but then in another post it's confirmed that the software is only on the developer's PC for testing purposes and is not distributed in binary form anywhere. Does this mean EdgyNet is using ...

Minetest Game's TNT depends on fire nodes (fire:basic_flame) being available.
Do you happen to have replaced that mod with a different one?
Yes, I replaced default fire with a non spreading mod.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Multicraft 2.0 is not yet released to the public, EdgyNet is testing beta software. When will they release it for the public because we have the right to request for the source code as per GNU LGPL,right? This will happen sooner or later, but you have no right to request the code, which I use for t...
