Re: Error: /usr/share/games/minetest/builtincommon/strict.lua: No such file or directory
OK I managed to fix the issue. The problem came from an issue with the folder: /var/games/minetest-server/.minetest/worlds/world The owner/permissions were not set the right way after the migration of the data (using SCP). This is what worked for me as a fix: rwxr-xr-x 2 Debian-minetest games 4096 J...

Re: Error: /usr/share/games/minetest/builtincommon/strict.lua: No such file or directory
OK following your advice I have manually installed the very same version of minetest (5.3.0) using "dpkg -i" If I try sudo /etc/init.d/minetest-server start The server starts but crashes as soon as I try to connect to it If I try sudo minetestserver The server works fine, I manage to conne...

Re: Error: /usr/share/games/minetest/builtincommon/strict.lua: No such file or directory
Hello, Thank you for your kind reply. Actually I did use the same installation process but maybe the minetest package version from the backport in Debian has been updated since my last installation: sudo apt-get install minetest-server All scripts are native and they have not been modified in any wa...

Error: /usr/share/games/minetest/builtincommon/strict.lua: No such file or directory
Hello, I am trying to move minetest-server from one system to another one. On both machines I have installed Minetest on Debian 10 using the Backports package. My problem is that on the new machine Minetest instantly crashes at launch (/etc/init.d/minetest-server start) with this error in the logs: ...

Re: HowTo: Configure 7 default items in minetest.conf?
Hello Freefall,
We have a first Scrum training session based on Minetest at the end of this month. It will probably make us do some last improvements on the setup.
I can publish here or on Github all the configuration files then if you might be interested.
Have fun too!
Stéphane

HowTo: Configure 7 default items in minetest.conf?
Hello, First I would like to thank everybody here for the great support. I am building a Minetest4Scrum gameplay in order to teach Scrum to people in my company, based on the game. As most of the players will be absolute beginners, I have made things as easy as possible. Using the minetest.conf file...

Re: Lost in configuration...
The admin is a server-side setting, called name (not admin). The client-side value of name isn't used in dedicated servers Thanks for the advice. I tried to add the name = xxx setting in both my minetest.conf files on the server, but when I login as xxx and try to fly, it says that the fly ability ...

Hello,
Thank you for your answer, crystal clear ;)
Does this mean that the Admin status also has to be setup on the client side?

Lost in configuration...
Hello, To put it simply: I just don't undeerstand how to configure a minetest server. I have installed a MINETEST latest version on a DEBIAN 10 OS, using the BACKPORTS packages. All is fine and running, except one silly thing: I do not manage to make the server accept any changes I configure using t...

Re: HOWTO: Setup timed sessions
Hello!
Thank you very much for your help.
I will try the given solutions and choose the best one in my context.
Finally, is it possible to show a watch / timer / countdown... on the screen of every player?
Have you ever heard of something like that? Maybe a mod?
Stéphane

HOWTO: Setup timed sessions
Hello, I was wondering: is it possible to setup timed session for a game? This is what I have in mind: As a "game master", I can start a 15 minutes sessions. When time is over, it becomes impossible to interact with the map (kind of frozen ?) As a "game master", I can start 3 ses...

Re: Server shuts down in the middle of a game
Hello Krock,
You were right: I had an obsolete mod activated that generated this bug. Just by disabling this mod resulted in the server not returning any error any more.
Thank you very much for your great help and support!
Stéphane.

Re: HOWTO: setup default controls on server side?
I could find the answer reading this doc :
https://github.com/celeron55/minetest/b ... nf.example
You can setup specific control keys by adding specific instructions to the minetest.conf file.
Sorry for the noise

Server shuts down in the middle of a game
Hello, I am running a minetest server 5.0.3 under Debian 10 in creative mode for company team building activities. We made a first try today. It all went good except two things: 1) The server falled 1 time. It completely shut down and all players have been kicked out with an error message. 2) 1 play...

Re: Need help with initial setup of a server
OK I think I did it. This is how I have proceeded to get an (almost) empty map: 1. Install the superflat_mod: https://minetest-bower.herokuapp.com/mods/superflat 2. Copy the content of the file 'parameter.lua' into the file 'superflat.txt' of youe existing world In my case, those files can be found ...

Re: Need help with initial setup of a server
I think now the server is really in Creative mode, with infinite inventory. But I still get the same map (a kind of a forest with a mountain...) I think I might need to reset something but I don't know how. because it looks like the 'mg_name = flat' is not taken into consideration. The only thing yo...

Re: Need help with initial setup of a server
Hello GayJesus, Many many thanks for your great advices. At this stage I have the mods apparently enabled and now I can see the inventory, that's great! But I still do not manage to get an empty map. I have added: mg_name = flat to my /etc/minetest.conf but it still load a forest map when I login. A...
