Re: crash - String too long for serializeString
Never mind that a client has no business sending meta in the first place, but does the server just blindly believe whatever the client stuffs in there? How does this work?

Re: Minetest 5.4.0 release candidate 1
Huh, blending works for me. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=23994 There was a time around 0.4 when it did behave oddly but I recently enabled it again and it works, I thought you guys fixed something. Note that I do my best to keep my model scenes clean and free of any ...

Why, that sounds exactly like something that machine translation would do.cathaya7d4 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 05:42Even machine translation could not turn "Julia set" into "human body art".

I did something like this before using a Bresenham walk, not a raycast, but I forgot the reason. Could entities possibly interfere with the raycast?

It's snake poison from water_life. You need the "antiserum" which you make from three snakes.

Re: Minetest and Wikipedia
The one thing that doesn't add up is how a whole lot of obscure programs and libraries do get to have articles. Being mentioned in the news as the sole condition is a bit of a joke.
But then again, look at the profile of the guy who actually made the deletion happen. I'll leave it at that.

Re: Minetest and Wikipedia
English Wikipedia has been captured by marketing and PR firms, I hope you realize that by now. It's not a conspiracy, paid editors openly brag and gloat about how they're now the ones in charge: https://www.businessinsider.com.au/wikipedia-marketing-2013-1 https://www.legalmorning.com/the-reason-i-n...

Wasn't there a thing that worked in reverse, allowing you to bundle the game in the world folder?

Re: Why are there so few funny Minetest videos?
You don't just go out and make a funny video, you make one because something funny happened.
Few funny things happen in minetest and some people around here are really uptight. Small wonder there's nothing fun happening.

Try writing to the map DB *after* all mods are loaded, and it should be fine.

Re: JavaScript for moddding
Funny of you to call lua schizophrenic while championing a meme language like JS and being triggered over iterators. (not that ipairs makes any sense, you should always 'for i=1, #t do' because ipairs generates garbage) Lua (5.1) is a very well designed language, a description of its entire grammar ...

Re: [Mod] p2p: player-to-player right click events
Well, it's a raycast. Might not be ideal due to lag, and won't be quite right in third person, but it's something.

Re: Use SuperTuxKart's Irrlicht fork for Minetest?
Colored smileys have no place in an international text encoding standard. They were a private, proprietary thing made by some Japanese mobile phone company, then adopted by Apple, Google, et al on their own phones, and then finally hamfisted into Unicode. Still, nobody took this seriously at all for...

Re: Use SuperTuxKart's Irrlicht fork for Minetest?
Just because some phone carriers bribed or blackmailed the Unicode people to include their smiley cancer into a text encoding doesn't mean anyone should actually support it.

Re: Minetest is not and likely never will be a game engine
But... the only thing that changed was that minetest_game is no longer being updated, and new features (ought to) serve everyone's needs. There are in fact several MC clones being made now. Like the only thing that changed is that if you want to port a Minecraft feature and need engine support for i...

Re: Minetest is not and likely never will be a game engine
Please understand that patching minetest_game with mods was a dead end, and the whole driving force behind mods was that the base game was rubbish. The whole point is that you don't have to do that any more, you can make a better game instead of attempting to salvage a bad one. The only people who a...

Only OGG Vorbis audio files are supported, and all audio is preloaded to RAM at the moment. Streaming long audio files instead of decoding them whole has been discussed but isn't ...
