Re: Getting the exact spot the player is pointing at

No need to wait:
Code: Select all
 * `minetest.pointed_thing_to_face_pos(placer, pointed_thing)`: returns a position
     * returns the exact position on the surface of a pointed node

Re: Split RMB functions into two different keybindings.

In Voxelands, you have rightclick for building and the F key for interacting (i.e. opening chest, furnace, sign text editor, etc.). It's simple and works.

Note the redstone in MCL2 is not finished yet, and some key features are still missing. Patches are welcome.

Re: Collect lava to the bucket / Infinity lava

In Minetest Game, lava is non-renewable, meaning it is a finite liquid, so you cannot replicate it like water. Sorry.

But there might be a few games in which lava is renewable. Hades Revisited is one example.

Re: Hello im a new player

Welcome to Minetest!

For new players we have a nice tutorial. It's not an official part of Minetest and it must be installed separately. You can find it here:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=10192

Please give it a try, maybe it helps! :-)
Feedback is much appreciated.

Re: [Game]/[World] Tutorial [1.8.3]/[2.2.1]

Ah, crap. You are supposed to sneak your way at the ledge, but this trick no longer works. This is another bug. >_> Anyway, right now, you could still reach the gold bar without cheating. Just take some blocks from the Mining section and place them there to climb up. :D Looks like I have to do a dee...

Re: [Game] MineClone 2 [0.41.3]

If you seriously want to support both MTG and MCL2, then doing such mod checks like shown above make sense. However, be aware it will be quite painful over time. MCL2 and MTG differ technically in many aspects. It's not just a matter of compability, but also one of balancing. The common idiom I use ...

Re: [Game] MineClone 2 [0.41.3]

@minerdudetest: I don't care how you organize your folders personally, but for normal players it's better that mod deployment follows standard practice. That for now, that is the default mods/ directory. It's that simple. That mods are MCL2-specific is not a reason to confuse players. There are plen...

Re: [Game] MineClone 2 [0.41.3]

@Player3107: To answer the question “How do I use X?” for any X, do: 1) Open your inventory 2) Click on the question mark icon (this is the help) 3) Click on the item type (block, tool, miscellanous) (the nametag is classified as tool) 4) Click on the item you look for. Hint: The help will automatic...

Installation: 1. $ mkdir ~.minetest/games/MineClone2/mods/1_CUSTOM (make a new directory inside mods of MineClone2) 2. $ touch ~.minetest/games/MineClone2/mods/1_CUSTOM/modpack.txt (add an empty marker file there) 3. extract each or any archive inside 1_CUSTOM, so it looks like .../1_CUSTOM/airtank...

Current state of MineClone 2

As all of you have probably noticed, there have been no updates for a while now. The project is currently on ice (but not dead!) until further notice. I have no idea when exactly I will continue. But when Minetest 5.0.0 comes out, I definitely want to update all my stuff to make sure the transition ...

because they can protect against potentially frivolous lawsuits, perhaps the most famous in recent U.S. history being the McDonald's coffee case Oh man! Did you even read the Wikipedia article? Re: What Git (or other) repo are people migrating to?

Yeah right, as if I would now migrate >20 repos. :D It's nice you know that CSS can make JS obsolete. But explain that to millions of other webdesigners first. :( Also, tbh, I don't really trust other hosters atm to not delete my things. repo.or.cz served me well for years. Just because repo.or.cz d...

Re: MTGame dye, wool mods: base/ex/unicolor groups removed

But exactly that's the problem. We now have games with two conflicting, redundant color group schemes. One with unicolor/base/exccolor, one with color_. This sucks. Practically speaking, as a modder, you need to add groups for both redundant color schemes to ensure maximum compability. This is just ...

Re: What Git (or other) repo are people migrating to?

I don't understand why people are always up in arms against repo.or.cz. It's JUST a Git repository, basically. Theoretically, you don't even need a stinking website for a Git repository. The web is not the only graphical way to access Git, there are some downloadable Git clients as well. I am worrie...

Re: What Git (or other) repo are people migrating to?

What most people forget is that GitHub is a proprietary platform. It's quite ironic to use proprietary GitHub to host your free software on it, isn't it? ;=) No, I don't mean the server-side code. That doesn't matter so much. It depends on the user (that is: you, plus all your bug reporters, testers...

Re: Is it okay to re-license WTFPL works as ISC?

That the OSI doesn't officially recognize it as open source license is just stupid, they clearly disregard their own Open Source Definition as the 10 criteria are obviously all fulfilled. Note the WTFPL is neither explicitly rejected nor accepted. Also, just because the OSI did not approve a license...

Re: Is it okay to re-license WTFPL works as ISC?

I strongly discourage the use of extemely obscure licenses such as WTFNMFPL or DWYPL or other ad-hoc inventions that nobody ever heard of. People should stop inventing more and more crazy licenses that aren't even innovative. At least the WTFPL is not obscure. About the liability thing: Is this main...
