Re: Minetest Using Too Much CPU Time For Itself

I agree the immaturity was completely unnecessary. All I can do is reiterate that communities are built on building each other up, not tearing one another down with insults and condescension. I see it the worst on social media, however; web forums like these have much higher standards than Facebook ...

Re: Minetest Using Too Much CPU Time For Itself

Yes, Minetest uses much more the CPU than it uses the GPU. If I set the FPS limit to 0 (effectively disabling it), I have between 140 FPS and 250 FPS depending on areas – but I'm CPU-limited way before being GPU-limited. That's a huge deal-breaker for my ASUS Notebook, then. It looks like I won't b...

Minetest Using Too Much CPU Time For Itself

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I last posted here. I recently tried playing Minetest again. The updates sound exciting, because the game is exactly at the stage of development I've been waiting for, but it's using 60-80% of my CPU when I start it up. This is after setting the frame rate to 15...

and I think you should make it so there are pigs and you ride them not an ostrich for gods sake. In real life, riding a pig with a carrot for navigation would be as equally ridiculous as riding an ostrich, if you ask me. This is a game about block people, for the love of dirt, real life logic need ...

Secondary End-Game Worlds?

Aren't I a long-time lurker? :# Anyway, I was recently wondering if Minetest could have something similar to the concept of a Netherworld, but better and more fitting for the science theme of Minetest? Then I realized, wait, Mese has alien origins, so ALIENS. Imagine that there are broken portals ma...

This is an interesting idea, honestly, but Minetest is still far from a stable version number, so it would be too difficult to maintain an enduser-focused toolkit and the main program at the same time, keeping one from breaking the other. Once it hits the 1.0 mark, however, this wouldn't be a bad th...

Clouds disappear from view above roughly 2100m. That's cool to know, thanks. XD I definitely didn't go high enough! This is a sneak elevator: *epicly epic image* When you sneak, you can walk completely off of a node and remain clipped to the edge. If you are standing next to a node, sneak, and jump...

I don't think I'm following you very well on that. ^^' So I should attempt to sneak at certain steps to increase my speed?

I have to agree with kaeza. Much of the point of Minetest was to be written in native machine code instead of running scripts through a slow interpreter engine, like Java or Javascript. Minecraft ran poorly enough on my older cousin's laptop, and he has a similar set of specs to my system, so whenev...

Totally got the Portal 2 reference there. ;P But yeah, that sounds like a good solution for private games, at least, but wouldn't do for net games with spawn points, and places to explore, on the ground, true. There has to be some way to modify time only for the client that triggered it, although I ...

Thanks for the quick replies guys! ^^ The top of the minetest world is 30980 blocks upwards, have fun reaching 31kilometers realistically. EDIT: the sky village looks nice. Thanks, and there really is a sky limit? I'm blown away! XD Now if only I had the patience to build a ladder that high. =P It w...

[Somewhat-Feature Request] Does Minetest Have A Sky Limit?

Hey guys! First time poster, semi-long time lurker. Hope you don't if I ask a few questions about this fun sandbox game? =P Anyway, while I was building a village in the sky high above my house, a thought hit me and my little cousin. Is there a limit to the skybox? The both of us climbed upward in C...
