Yes, but if you plan to run it under a user account, I'd suggest /home/account/minetest. That way you don't have to worry about permission issues, as the account it is running under will have full rights to it's home directory.

Hmm, I don't know how you compiled it but this reference is probably owned by root: /build/buildd/minetestc55-0.4.6/src/server.cpp :104: virtual void* ServerThread::Thread(): Assertion '0' failed. I followed the README.txt file and didn't have any problems at all on Mint 13. Everything worked fine w...

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it next time. I fiddled with it for a few hours and then ended up going back to the world prior to upgrading (luckily, I had a backup). Server 0.4.6 on Linux Mint 13 Lave issue?

Hello, I hope I am providing enough information to get some help. We have been playing on 0.4.5 without issues for a while. I just upgraded the server (on Linux Mint 13) and clients (all on Windows XP) yesterday to 0.4.6. The process I used for the server was to build 0.4.6 with 'cmake . -DRUN_IN_PL...

I didn't go through all 7 pages of this thread, and I'm new to minetest, but thought I would chime in, hoping that there would be a simple answer. I added finite_liquids = true and tried both true/false without any changes. Anyway, the only reason I chime in, is because we spent about 2 hours lookin...
