In essence if you don't migrate your account to Microsoft after the deadline you'll lose access to the game.
I have a feeling alternatives like Minetest may see some increased interest.

Re: Please make more games!
Yeah I've never really seen the usefulness of "minimal development test game". Anyway it seemed like you were leaning towards a common core subgame that potential devs could use as a stepping off point towards whatever their own goals are. The core subgame of course providing all the boile...

Re: Please make more games!
I think the primary issue is that it will always be easier to just throw together a pile of your favourite mods for Minetest Game in order to get the experience the subgame creators want. I don't blame folks for going about it that way. Why put in the extra effort of designing your own block buildin...

Re: [Game] Build Your World [R2]
I had set aside some time to add some stuff in order to make this a more fully fleshed out game. First release was a bit lacking in a few areas. Added in R2 -Added support for the mapgens -Added Creative Mode -Added Smart Inventory by bell07 -Added Spawnbuilder by Wuzzy for skyblock support on singl...

Re: Absolute minimum game
If you use the singlenode mapgen then I don't think there's anything that's a locked in requirement. Even pulling the cloud texture doesn't throw any errors, it just results in darker clouds. You just need your GUI stuff like hearts and bubbles. If you're using a mapgen like v7 then some stuff needs...

Re: [Game] Decoblocks [R5]
I'm overhauling and adding a bit more than I initially thought I would, however I've got things back to a playable state. So here's what I'll call a preview build. Added so far. -Changed trees to schematic file system. -Added gruelwood tree. Found in Black Granite Shield and Pink Granite Shield biom...

Re: Subgame Ideas/Requests here
pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean microcrafting? Generally it refers to complex and tedious crafting recipes that take a lot of steps to complete. Say you're a modder and have a mod with a machine in it. Instead of using the materials commonly found in the game like wood and ingots you inst...

Re: Subgame Ideas/Requests here
I'd like to see someone take a crack at one of those extreme microcrafting type games that are popular with the Minecraft crowd. I'm fairly sure they're only made to be massive time sinks.

Re: [Game] Decoblocks [R5]
I'd shelved the game and had decided to wait for Minetests features to mature a bit more before continuing again. Since I'm on vacation I think its a good time to take a look at things and reacquaint myself with Minetest. I was a bit surprised to see some fairly recent posts. Obviously I'm a bit out...

Re: Minetest 0.4.13
Many important changes have been made on minetest_game between 0.4.12 and 0.4.13. They don't appear in the Changelog . Yeah the new biomes really do look great. I notice some good texture changes as well. As much as I love to see what changes and improvements the engine gets. It's nice to see the b...

Yes. The basic minetest.register_biome function will work in both mg5 or mg7 without specifying the mapgen.MirceaKitsune wrote:Oh... v5 supports them? I thought only v7 did. Does it work with the same biome definitions?

It's just one of those stupid quirks that got carried over from Minecraft. Much like tree punching, or diamond tools.

Re: Forum and spam
We need to write a simple javascript crafting grid and ask the new users to drag and drop nodes into the grid to craft a pickaxe before they can join. :) Some people disable javascript for security reasons. It's a cute idea, but doesn't work out well for them. I can be online every day from 5:30 to...

Re: Forum and spam
The problem is simply that moderators aren't always online. The forum is spammed every day from 4 am to 9 am UTC. It would be nice to have a mod on staff that's typically active during those hours. Ideally a decently active forum would have a mod staff that sort of provides round the clock watch ba...

I'm always happy to see mods that add more stone types to play with.
I'd highly recommend altering the textures to make them your own. You'll find the experience rewarding when you create a texture you really like.

This mod really is very impressive. You could easily go hog wild and create the deck and patio version of Home Decor if you wanted to.

Re: [mod] Mudbrick [mudbrick]
Nice mod. I've always liked brick blocks for building, and those are a very natural, cheap form of them. As for the straw required, you might also accept cottages:straw_mat as a replacement for wheat as that's that what you get when you put harvested wheat in a threshing place from my cottages mod ...

Re: [mod] Mudbrick [mudbrick]
Although I think wheat is a bit expensive. Regular grass grows all over the place in Minetest. Grass is what I actually use in my Decoblocks game. However in Minetest Game grass isn't as easily farmed as wheat. Grass does spread, but at a rather slow pace. Everyone has a opinion eh? I'm quite happy...

Re: [mod] Mudbrick [mudbrick]
This mod is nice but i don't like the crafting recipe. :/ You should use a clay block instead of dirt. The idea is that the mudbrick acts as a cheaper alternative to clay based bricks for the player. That's the primary reason for the recipe. I had also sort of based it on the Great Mosque of Djenné...

[mod] Mudbrick [mudbrick]
This mod allows the player to create mudbricks and dry them in the sun. The mod is just a port of a small part of my game Decoblocks over to Minetest Game. Since a forum search didn't turn up anything similar to it. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/4b97/gn6ypwwwll1fji5zg.jpg The bricks are created u...

I don't understand some of you seem to consider the act of wanting to make a profit off of mod development "disgusting". Really it's just a bit of culture clash. Essentially the same as the open source crowd vs proprietary software. Instead of the greed and underhanded practices we get fr...

Re: Minecraft mods require iLivid malware installs? WT?
Idk how to download minecraft mods, since I don't use Minecraft. For most minetest mods, you can follow the download link (on GitHub press the 'Download Zip button'). Then unzip the mods and modpacks in your minetest/mods folder. If you download a game, unzip it in the minetest/games folder. That's...
