Re: Failures of Core Dev and the Needs of Content Creators

An engine without games - Since MTG is in maintenance only mode, it is official that Minetest ships with no real games... I was about to bring up ruben's main menu re-design but ruben himself brought it up so that's neat. I'm personally interested in seeing game-defined main menus in minetest (with...

Re: Failures of Core Dev and the Needs of Content Creators

If anyone wants to "fork" minetest, my personal opinion is to just rewrite it from scratch in a more modern toolkit like godot. Forking the minetest that is based on irrlicht is useless IMO because you're just going to inherit the same weaknesses and design decisions of irrlicht-minetest, ...

Re: Minetest for Xbox and IOS?

The XBox One may get support for Windows Universal Platform (UWP, previously called Metro apps) apps, which already can run on windows phone and PC using the same codebase. Once the UWP is stable on the XBox One, converting the actual minetest app to UWP may be quite easy . However, two things: 1. I...

Re: [0.4.13] Release Candidate builds

I like this release, changing the graphics options actually makes the fps drop for the first time. I'm taking this to mean that there might have been changes to the graphics pipeline. Here are a few screenshots of things I found "special" http://i.imgur.com/8wTcSIo.png RBA's glorious shade...

Re: Direct 3D 9.0 Crash !!!POSSIBLE FIX!!!

The memory hog problem can indeed be fixed by switching to a linux distro, like lubuntu. However, that does not fix the cause - an underperforming graphics unit. You'll have to upgrade your PC a bit to play this game with OpenGL, the way it is meant to be played(tm)

Re: Direct 3D 9.0 Crash !!!POSSIBLE FIX!!!

Penguin, I find it hard to believe that you have a card that does directX 9.0 but not openGL. It is most likely a driver problem. Post back your system configuration and we can try to help you out. We'll need your operating system (Windows, ubuntu, mac, etc), your graphics card, and the minetest ver...

When will you start to take patches in from the community at large? Alternatively, when will you post the sauce so we can *start* developing patches?

I would not think so. The code would need to be rewritten with a scope for PC-based calls.

Re: Wouldn't this game run better on Java

Question: I was just wondering, but wouldn't java be more capable of running Minetest? Short Answer: No. Long Answer: No. Once Minetest hits the same level of development and optimisations that Minecraft has been subject to, we should be a tad bit faster. Simple Technical Answer: Java runs on a VM ...

Re: Voxus (WIP)

Hmmm... I think you are going to have to elaborate more on some of these requests, though I think it is possible... Oh no worries, the design document will explain them in detail. Will be looking for a (or multiple?) C++ programmers along the way, see who wants to join the project or find someone w...

Touchscreen support for PC

Now that we have a nice android build with nice touchscreen support, can the developers work to add support for touchscreen on standard PCs? With the rise of touchscreen enabled laptops (at the cost of matte screens ), and windows 8 tablets, there is bound to be an increase in player base i...

My building style is inspired from the style of architecture used in these villas in the UAE, which is where I grew up.

A plus point is that the architectural style is blocky!
