Re: About when will we get proper mobs in minetest?

well, this thread is old. One thing that is neglected massively in this thread is that we simply need an API built into the engine for handling moving entities. I say this because it would solve a large portion of the mobs problems. The other reason I think we need it is because it's a solution that...

iOS?

So, one thing I was thinking about is it would be nice to have minetest on iOS. It has been talked about for a long time, and largely dabated and many other things. My question is this: could we figure out a way to be able to get minetest to iOS and implement a way to reward someone who undertakes t...

I just think it would be simpler. you would have one location to manage things like bans, passwords, mods, etc. in my opinion, it would simplify, and it doesn't seem like it would be that much harder. we already have a server tab, why not just modify that, and add a couple more features to it?

you should use a link to a site like github. you can't update attatchments.

contact a moderator if you need your attatchment removed.

[idea] server gui

so, I was just thinking about people starting servers, and the complicated process that is usually involved in it, and was wondering, why not create a gui specifically for hosting servers? it would function similar to the server tab, only it doesn't load you into the world. would this be possible/ea...

I say, target schools who are looking at minecraft. if we can show them minetest, with it having the same educational capabilities and being free, it should be an easy win.

ah, I also forgot about a protection mod. in order to stop griefers, there are several weapons that are useful. 1: protection mods. these keeps people who don't own certain land from digging/placing there, and essentially stops griefing. 2: mods (moderators) these are the players who distribute area...

okay, that works better. however, I do think there could be a major improvement. for non-square capes, there are side pixels missing. could it be made so that for capes that aren't square, they still have the textures for the sides?

I am a little irritated by comments... -snip- I would think they would have pointed out that kind of stuff on there website. but I still don't see how mineCraft (aka, mobs and such) is educational. I can understand how minetest can be. it has an easily moddable interface, and plenty of mods that ca...

Well, they certainly don't tell how minecraft can be educational. I think what we need is a way to get the word out about minetest, and to make our own edu version. and a website. have a line in it of: how is minetestedu better than minecraftedu. or why is mintest better for teaching than minecraft....

My opinion on what makes a good server: 1. longevity. No one wants to see their master creations destroyed after a week of playing. 2. reliability. this doesn't mean no downtime, or no server errors, but rather that there is someone trying to improve it, and that if something does happen to corrupt ...

good point Soko. Unfourtunately, I don't fully understand the minetest API, and have pretty much no idea of how to do that. One thing I was thinking of is to have several crafting "lines." it would make it so you wouldn't have to craft the same block quite so much, but you don't have to cr...

wouldn't be too hard. simply add a priv that, when enabled, sets armor to 0. then nothing would hurt, except lava and drowning.

this is about the only possible way I can see minetest as being "educational"

and minecraft can't do that, so why are they still using it?

I tried installing in the normal mods folder but got an error because there wasn't an init.lua file. On a hunch, I tried installing it in the /game folder of the Minetest program directory and was able to create a game. I'm not sure if that was what was intended or not but I didn't see any installa...
