Re: [Mod] Advanced area protection [areas]

Is there a way to see my areas on a map (for example, the minimap)? No, I don't know of any feature that does it for areas. Hi, I would like to know how to unprotect my areas Enter the area to remove. Look at the area number on the bottom left. Run this command: /remove_area NUMBER_HERE See also: /...

Re: ways to increase fps?

Greetings and welcome to the Minetest forums. https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/9829#issuecomment-625286246 With all these points applied, I can squeeze out additional 4 FPS (previously 8 FPS) from a 2007 Asus laptop with basically non-existent GPU support and CPU that runs hot very quickl...

Re: Userdata expected error when using stack:get_count()

for i, stack in pairs(inv:get_list("listname")) do if stack:get_count() > 0 then return true end end return false "stack.get_count()" calls "get_count()" without any arguments. The function does not have any information about its parent. "stack:get_count()" translates to "get_count(stack)". It know...

Re: Minetest v5.2.0: delayed response in main menu

Welcome to the Minetest forums. Do the same issues occur in multiple Minetest versions, such as 5.3.0-dev (from git), 5.1.1 or 0.4.17.1? Please try those if you can find the binaries. This way we can figure out whether it's a Minetest problem or caused by obscure hardware drivers. Android 5.3.0-dev:...

Re: Question+Pull

Neither. As long you don't copy entire functions from other mods, don't be worried about copyright. I'd be glad if my code could help to fix someone's issues - and I believe most modders have similar thoughts. Consider giving credits to the original authors, just because it's a nice thing to do. You...

Re: Hi all and question.

1) Add the Minetest PPA to your repository list: https://launchpad.net/~minetestdevs/+ar ... ntu/stable
2) run "sudo apt update"
3) run "sudo apt install minetest"
4) ???
5) Profit. 5.2.0 (or newer) should be installed now.

Please (re)upload your image; it's not shown in the post.

Join a world/server. Which OpenGL version does it display in the window title?
Disable all shaders ("Settings" menu). Does it still occur?
Do you also have issues in the main menu, where clouds overlap?

Re: Can't enter my server

The first join always takes a while to download all media. However, in this case it already completed that step and proceeds initializing all content used on the server. Please check the free RAM and CPU usage in the client's task manager. I suspect there are mods that provide quite some data to loa...

Re: Modding with inventories

The metadata is actually tied to the position, not to the node. At creation of the local variable, and when we initialize it, it holds an empty inventory table [...] In other words, will changing the local var "inv" from the function actually change the position's inventory Every position in the ma...

Missing information. Please provide the following for easier bug solving: * The last 50 lines of your debug.txt file (see Minetest directory) * Does it work with Minetest 5.2.0? (see downloads) * OpenGL version (start a local game, see title bar) By the way, https://wiki.minetest.net/Reporting_bugs ...

So it exits properly after starting up the main menu builtin code... strange.

Please add or replace following minetest.conf setting: "menu_clouds = false"
https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... ample#L965

Alternatively, also try "video_driver = software".

There were some networking changes in the more recent 5.3.0-dev version - does it change anything? See Builds forum, and Ubuntu PPA for recent builds.

Re: Are there bad seeds?

What they refer as "bad seed" is mostly beginner-unfriendly starting positions. They might be spawned in a crater (cave on surface), on ice or somewhere in an endless desert biome. The map is generated using multiple layers of Perlin Noise, thus teleporting 1 km further from spawn usually yields a b...

I just deleted it and tried again, but got the same result from both the GUI and the terminal.
Please open a new thread for this issue. Run Minetest from the terminal/console and post the output there. If it's a segfault, please also provide a gdb backtrace.

The parameter types are documented, it just happened that the types aren't enforced. Please report and fix those errors to the mod author. They might be still unaware that certain nodes do not work as intended. After all these checks were added to avoid follow-up errors in entities that rely on corr...

Failing line: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... g.lua#L126

Change this to local fdir = (node.param2 or 0) % 32
Looks like Minetest tries to load a falling node which does not have the param2 value.
