Re: [Mod] Temperature Survive 0.5 [tempsurvive]

Interesting, will check it out :) I looked quickly into the code, and I suggest that it would be better to detect the temperature noise parameters instead of hardcoding with the default value, so that it will match even if someone is using custom parameters. They are stored in the setting mg_biome_n...

Python Schematic handler

Hello, This is a small Python library that provides Input / Output for Minetest .mts schematics. It is using the NumPy library (that you need to install), reputed for its efficiency in numerical treatments. It is loosely based on Mg's Python-Minetest , but optimized for speed and memory efficiency, ...

Re: [Server] Capture the Flag Server (Guns!) - Multiple maps

Hello, I believe you do need more responsible moderators. I was, unbelievably, KICKED by a moderator because I was going to capture the flag. The moderator shall be unnamed as a apology was quickly made, but you do need more moderators around, to control the server to protect it from hackers, as ha...

Re: Game of minetest like Terrafirmacraft of Minecraft?

Hello,

There have been several attempts to make a Minecraft-like game in Minetest. The latest and most up-to-date is MineClone2 by Wuzzy.
But I would always recommend you to have a look at the more Minetest-specific games like Pixture or Aftermath.

Re: [TP]Default_LS[WIP]

Very nice!
Too bright colors are not always the best, a lower saturation can look more realistic and immersive.
This is one of the reasons why I think that Insidethebox is so well designed.

Just one comment, I think the lava specifically should remain bright.

Re: Which is best?

There is no gum in the basic Minetest Game. You may be speaking about a mod that is install on the server you play (looking at your previous posts, I guess it's Hometown). In that case, ask on the related topic, or at least explain the context, because on the General channel we have no idea of what ...

Re: Default Male and Female Skins

Just to make you realize: this topic is 5 years old. During this time, some skin mods have been created, featuring some female skins. Check out this one for example: https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9100 Anyway the issue is still relevant because this doesn't exist in Minetest Gam...

Re: Ubiquitous Time State

There is an API function to keep a chunk loaded : minetest.forceload_block , but always keep in mind that it may take much CPU and RAM. That's what was done on MinetestForFun Classic server on a few dozen of chunks around mesecons factories (by the mesecons mod itself), and the lag was already notic...

I notice that your places in Eden are always completely snowy. Because you are at y=600+. I suggest increasing your altitude_chill parameter to something on the same order of magnitude than your elevation.

Re: Is somone be willing to maintain my mod?

Hello,

Is it possible to see your code and download your subgame? People are more likely to be interested in your project if they can see and test it. The best is to make it available on GitHub.

Re: [Idea] a real Earth (if possible)

https://github.com/Jeija/spheretest <- Kinda what youre searching. Spheretest isn't adapted to the geometry of a real planet. It is topologically a torus, which would make the North and South poles coincide. But it can look nice for regions far from the poles. Have a look at Lentebriesje's Earth ma...

Re: The future of Minetest

Hello, I was, at first, not willing to involve myself in such a polemical thread. But I have chatted a lot with Chiantos about this, and found out, as parasite pointed out, that he has been totally misunderstood. He is very annoyed to see such virulent comments without being able to clarify his thou...

Re: First Hacks on Minetest

Create a new mod and depend it creatures then create an empty init.lua and create a folder textures and place your new chicken texture there, using the original file name an enable the mod for the wor...

Yes, it is as simple as that. Just replace the image you want to change, and give it the same name.
Try it!

Don't hesitate to actually try things by yourself if you want to learn Minetest modding. The eternal DIY :D

Well... I was not expecting to have so many posts to read, let me answer your questions one by one. it would be way better to use GDAL to extract this data anyway so that you can scale and distort it using map projections rather than image tools. It is already using GDAL, btw you need to have this l...

For me it seems that you don't disagree that much. Restraining you from saying it's dumb or stupid does not mean accepting it blindly, I mean you can reject the work without offending the author, like a teacher can give low marks without insulting their pupils. This is not about approving the work o...

Welcome skyace65 :) What we need first, according to me (I'm not developer but I've been following the development quite closely for 4 years). ⋅ Good subgames. There are quite a lot of subgames but most are of low quality. Some time ago there was a poll about bundling subgames in the downl...

Re: ABM works unstable/incorrect

@bosapara: all that you describe in your first post is an expected behaviour, and is explained by the "chance" parameter. If chance = X and delay = Y, your ABM has 1/X chance to be executed every Y seconds, to add randomness. If you want it to be executed at every time, use chance = 1, or ...

Re: [Mod][Merged] Valleys Mapgen [valleys_mapgen]

Today I released my old changes as version 2.3, decided to break the compatibility with older version of Valleys Mapgen, and began to align the code with Minetest 5.0's API. You may find strange that I am still developing this if VMG is merged on core. It's mainly because I will use the Lua version ...
