Re: Education, minetest in the classroom

Hello technomancy.... your project sounds great, maybe you'll share your experience too. #nocomment I'm working with sixth grade students (12 years old), I have four groups of 15 students each. We started by simply playing the game, some of them knew how to play, and they helped the ones that didn'...

Re: Above-ground dungeons?

If its not incongruent with the mese-lore idea that mese is some kind of artifact left by aliens, the dwellings may be remnants where ancient civilizations had been and subsequently buried or thrown into the air from misuse of mese or ??? Or perhaps the power of mese somehow teleported these dwelli...

Re: [Mod] Banned on Die [0.1] [banondie]

Ok, so if you actually had a friend and he/she dies, then what will his/her reaction to this mod be? He/She will said: "srifqi, please unban me! Argh, this mod bans me!". Maybe like that. :D Oh, I'll answer: "Oops, I don't have "ban" privileges. :D". Also, how would it...

Re: [Mod] Limit chat by distance [0.1.1] [shout]

Minetest have built-in helper: vector.distance(senderpos, recieverpos) Do you mean this? function vector.distance(a, b) local x = a.x - b.x local y = a.y - b.y local z = a.z - b.z return math.hypot(x, math.hypot(y, z)) end You know? We (me, rubenwardy, and prestidigitator) are doing optimisation. S...

Re: [Mod] Limit chat by distance [0.1] [shout]

It's less square rooting (but maybe less readable, Idk) probably not worth optimising :P Even better is to compare squares of distances and not need square roots at all. :-P Ah, Phytagoras Theorem! c * c = a * a + b * b How can I forget that? Thanks prestidigitator. Will be avaiable in next update.

Re: world generating nodes using blender created voxels

metaspy wrote:Honestly, I am looking in the init.lua and I don't see any code for setting up a mesh instead of the normal node.
Should I be looking in Nodes.lua, or mapgen.lua?

Until now, none of Minetest Vanilla's block (a.k.a. node) that uses mesh. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Re: [Mod] Limit chat by distance [0.1] [shout]

it might be better to do: math.sqrt(x * x + y * y + z * z) https://github.com/srifqi/shout/blob/master/init.lua#L20 It's less square rooting (but maybe less readable, Idk) probably not worth optimising :P I was just copying from Minetest built-in lua. Re: Diginet: a higher-level digiline-based protocol

Woah,
Internet-like network in Minetest!

Hope it will be realized, can't wait to see 'em in server.

NB:
Will be there a browser? Just my thought.
Also, will be an URI-like (e.g. srifqi.server)? So, we don't have to remember the "IP".

Re: Is "perlin:get2d({x = pos.x, y = pos.z})" from -1 to 1 o

Looks like Minetest's PerlinNoise is buggy. You can use clamp function:
Code: Select all
local function clamp(value, min, max)
if value<min then return min end
if value>max then return max end
    return value;
end
