Re: [Mod] Protection mod library [tyrant]

Thanks so much for the great info! We'll be testing this mod and I definitely don't want to take you away from the trains mod, that is a favorite ours aka my students and I. I do a git pull for it every day :) Take care!

Re: [Mod] Towntest [towntest] - Grow a town in minetest.

Thanks so much already for the awesome work you've done! I'm definitely going to be playing this with my students tomorrow. I'm excited as well to try to take some buildings they created and let them watch as the NPCs build it :) Right now I have so many buildings being put up. I also really like ho...

Re: [Mod] Towntest [towntest] - Grow a town in minetest.

It works!!! Nice job! Thank you for not making the LuaFS a requirement, that wouldn't have been so much fun to set up on the school computers either. Too bad you have to compile it and do all the setup work for luarocks too, boo. To make it a separate mod you could post it in the WIP Mods if you wan...

Re: [Mod] Protection mod library [tyrant]

This looks super interesting, I'm surprised no one else has responded. Is it possible to allow certain players for certain areas? Or even if a player sets an area, them having the ability to add other players that can help them build in their specific area. I'm trying to learn about protection mods ...

Re: [Mod] Towntest [towntest] - Grow a town in minetest.

lfs looks like kind of a pain to set up in Windows. What exactly does it add to the mod? Also it'd probably be good to mention it as a dependency. Perhaps it could be included with the mod. I imagine a lot of people won't want to go through the work of installing it. Also are you going to set up a s...

Re: [Mod] Towntest [towntest] - Grow a town in minetest.

Just as a note the original one does work. I'm using the latest codebase of both minetest and minetest game freshly compiled today. I'm currently on Lubuntu 16.04

Re: [Mod] Towntest [towntest] - Grow a town in minetest.

It still crashed after I updated the git but I'll try it in Linux. Also what version of minetest are you using? Nothing interesting in debug.txt, just that message even with the debug-print enabled. EDIT - Here is what I get when using it on Linux. I'll test with the version not edited by you: 2016-...

Re: World climate system idea

This is excellent. Bookmarked! It'd be great if the climates affect the character too like thirst increases in hot climates and if you don't have the proper clothing you can freeze to death in cold climates.

Realistic Survival Ideas

Howdy! So as many of you already know I am a Computer Science Teacher using Minetest. I'd like to simulate a realistic survival environment where they start from nothing and build up to a modern city. I'd really like for them to even be trading and bartering and eventually using currency. Since it i...

Re: [Mod] Towntest [towntest] - Grow a town in minetest.

I'm using Bell's repo but every time I create a chest it crashes the game. I don't get much of an error message, just: 2016-09-24 19:17:23: ACTION[Server]: singleplayer places node towntest_chest:chest at (-602,29,107) 2016-09-24 19:17:23: ACTION[Server]: facedir: 3 2016-09-24 19:17:23: [Server]: >>...

Re: Minetest in a school

In each of their installs of minetest in minetest.conf put serverlist_url = 0 (it doesn't have to be zero could even probably be empty). I use minetest in school and that's what we do and connect via lan. Also if you are going to have them browse mods you might want to do a search/replace for the F ...

Re: [Game]Minetest_Hades[wip]

My students and I tried it out today and we LOVE it!! I think it really makes survival a lot harder especially when I add hunger :) Is there any water that is spawned anywhere? I did want to add thirst but if there is no water anywhere that might make it beyond difficult. I hope you don't give up on...

Great villages!!! One thing I noticed is the license isn't in the git repo. Seems like it might be a good idea to have in there.

Re: [mod][wip] Lua Override [override]

This is super useful!! I have to take lava out for my students and this will make life much easier updating the minetest_game. I was wondering, is there a reason to use LGPL 3 instead of LGPL 2.1 like minetest uses? I'm not sure if it matters but it might make life easier for people if it shared the...

Re: [Mod] SkillsFramework [0.4] [skillsframework]

Just an update, ever since I added "digger = String," it hasn't crashed for either class and the students are successfully leveling up. I saw the variable wasn't initialized anywhere so that's why I tried that and it seemed to work. Not that I know much about coding but hopefully that was ...

Re: [Mod] SkillsFramework [0.4] [skillsframework]

I'm at home now so I don't have access to those files but I'll be sure to add in the print. You are correct, it seemed to crash if only one specific student was trying to login. He was successfully using skills for a bit but once he crashed it, it was every time he logged in, I'm not sure he was abl...

Re: [Mod] SkillsFramework [0.4] [skillsframework]

At school we are running into this error which seems to end up being player specific. I haven't been able to verify it yet but I believe right when a certain player joins the server that it gives the crash, after they've first created the crash. I thought it might be level related so I had another s...

Re: Questions About Keyboard Bindings

Thanks so much! I think I have to change their actual minetest.conf correct? I can't just do it on the server I believe, hopefully I'm wrong though because that'd be great. I'd like to disable them changing the keys because lots of other classes use it too and especially when the little kids go to u...
