Re: How to install mods for Mac?

Try looking in /Library/Application Support, you may find a minetest folder there. Then you should be able to drop mods in the mods sub-folder.

Windows doesn't have Java by Default, mostly people use Windows (Damn... I think it's because the software.) and that means they have to install, and being sincerely the first time i played MineCraft i didn't have any problem, but before formatting my Computer i had many troubles installing Java an...

Source is provided - just not for the sensitive part of checking. complete source - showing cheaters what they should look for kinda defeats the purpose of it. Looks nice ! Seems that source of anticheat_routines.bin is missing in github It looks like it's a proprietary mod: https://github.com/ac-minetest/anticheat/blob/master/init.lua#L78-L79 I urge the mod author to actually release the source code of it, it's not a security threat at all. Re: minecraft mod mobs models for minetest mobs?

I believe Minecraft models are not entirely compatible with Minetest's supported model formats (.obj, .b3d, .x, .md2). Moreover, If the license doesn't allow for it, there's no point since the original author could ask you to take them down. And even if it was allowed, you'd be better off using mode...

Re: Please stop using WTFPL

Does it make sense to use unlicense for textures? Should DWYWPL be allowed? The Unlicense is targeted at code, but you can use CC0 1.0 on anything (code, artwork, …) since it's public domain dedication (or a very permissive license in case public domain is not possible). Both are compatible with th...

Windows10+opengl = sloooooow What happens is that Windows and Micro$oft only uses DirectX when it's about 3d Graphics... So I don't think is something strange, that any game with OpenGl go Slooooow... That happens to me too, for some reason Minetest goes so fast in Linux, but in Windows is very, ve...

It's possible that someone makes mods or a whole Minetest distribution targeted at education, but I'm not sure if the developers would endorse those officially.

Re: how do I play MineTest after the download?

@BlueTangRocks: what version of Minetest are you playing? The version number should be in the upper-left corner of the screen all the time. The latest development versions of Minetest no longer have the version watermark in the upper-left corner. In this case, you have to press F5 to see the versio...

Re: How to make underwater less dark?

Try adding display_gamma = 1.0 to your minetest.conf (or use the Advanced Settings menu present in Minetest 0.4.14 and later). Lower values make darker areas brighter (the minimum is 1.0).

Did you clone the minetest_game repository in the games/ folder of the Minetest engine clone, like this (once opening a terminal in the Minetest Git clone)?

Code: Select all

cd games/; git clone https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game.git

That's part of the mod, not the engine, and thus suffers from the caveat I mentioned in the post above.

In the engine, there isn't. Not to mention that mod-applied knockback is server-side, without any client-side prediction.

Re: [32×] Modern [modern]

Do you not know how to animate textures or is it a design decision? If you need help animating it would be trivial for me to animate flowing water and lava for you. This texture pack looks good so far, except for cobble. No, I'd like the water/lava/torches to be animated (and know how to do it), I ...

I don't think that's entirely true - hMod (2010) and CraftBukkit (2011) could basically be considered server mods, even if they were pretty limited in adding new content to the game.

Re: Package manager / repo for mods?

What I don't like about APT repositories is that they're neither cross-platform nor cross-distribution. cornernote worked on a solution using Bower , which works cross-platform and cross-distribution, however it would need better integration with Minetest. Or perhaps we should fork an existing simpl...

Re: Poll: Re-add singlenode mapgen to world generation scree

In my opinion, this is only viable if mapgens get descriptions in the world creation dialog, and the singlenode mapgen creates a small (eg. 7x7) plane made of a solid node (such as wood) upon which the player can build on when used with minetest_game.

Voting yes, but please keep this in mind.

Re: How can I increase the active range for lua entities (mo

Try this:

Code: Select all

active_block_range = 4
active_object_send_range_blocks = 4
The distance is in "blocks", ie. 16×16×16 nodes. The first one determines the simulation area of entities (default is 2), the latter determines the sending distance (default is 3).
