Re: Using Public Domain Wikipedia images

I'm wondering about re-licensing public domain stuff to CC0 (or other). I guess it is possible as far as it is actually public domain stuff in your country.

Re: hud.remove does not work

You have to keep the ID given by player.hud_add and pass it to player.hud_remove as argument.

Please, refer to Rubenwardy's modding book, it's full of examples : https://rubenwardy.com/minetest_modding ... s/hud.html

Re: Updated Linux Compiling Instructions.

I'm shocked nobody links the actual compile instructions: https://github.com/minetest/minetest#compiling It specifically covers topics such as "how to compile a server", and contains the above suggested solution as well as much, much more information. So simple to find, I guess we all sup...

"Beware, it's non-free" would be more appropriate. Telling people what to do or not to do is just the opposite of freedom.

Re: [Server] Lavaland

Nice and fun game. May be a bit rudimentary but it's still fun to play :)

There is missing a texture for copper blocks slabs and stairs and the craft guide recipe uses and unknown item.

Btw, how to obtain dirt ?

Re: Do you have to pay to play on a server?

I've never seen forced payment. Actually you are not forced, you could go play somewhere else. To be clear, I strongly prefer free servers but there is nothing illegal to make sever you have to pay for, and it could perfectly be moral if the price correspond to a real service. I love the idea of gi...

Re: Do you have to pay to play on a server?

Usually you do not have to pay for playing on a server. If someone wants you to do so you should not use the server. It depends, usually servers are free but if someone sets up a server with a very high level of services, it could be perfectly reasonable to pay for it (depending of the price of cou...

Re: PROPOSAL: Game Development Base

https://content.minetest.net/ Mmm... I feel like one of the core problems is the poor mod management system. No centralized name management. This allows several mods to have the same name, creating confusion and leading to mistakes. No good dependency management. It's up to players to find needed m...

Re: PROPOSAL: Game Development Base

Wuzzy, I mostly agree on what you said but I "feel" there could be another way to dispatch code than engine / mods. Something like three stage rocket : - Engine which should provide non specific things (we are far from that) not codable in Lua (for performance or technical reasons); - Lua ...

Re: Should I have copyright or use a commons for my texture

Addition:

- If you distribute your stuff and want people be legally able to use it, you HAVE TO give them a license.

- If you want to promote your distribution on this forum, the license have to be a free license (free like in free software: GPL, CC, ...).

Re: Should I have copyright or use a commons for my texture

You have a copyright on whatever image, text (and code) or sound you produce as long as you can prove you're the author.

Nobody can copy it until you give some rights on it.

Licenses are there for that. You can sell licenses or automatically give some rights to anybody.

That's up to you.

Re: PROPOSAL: Game Development Base

Hi, this is very interesting proposal. Hope I could get involved in it. I developed display_api (which, I hope, will one day be outdated by an engine improvement) and font_api. Having good reusable API is not only a way to develop mods faster but also have a consistent game (avoiding several differe...

Re: [mod] Crater MG [cratermg] [experimental] [mapgen]

Yes you should be able. There are no caves, only kind of cracks, which becomes larger if you go deeper. Ores are not scattered but present in vast volumes. There are also vast volumes of stone without any ore. The idea behind that is, if you have technology to get on another planet, then you have te...

Good !!

Don't forget it is only a mapgen, not a game. I mean I'm not sure at all it is playable as is. It should be integrated in some other game (like mars survival or something like that).

Re: [mod] Crater MG [cratermg] [experimental] [mapgen]

Ok, I found the reason why it worked for me... the problem is present only when technic is not enabled.

So the "stone everywhere" issue is fixed.

Juli, I use MT 5.0.1 but I don't have this 'random' error. Can you test again with last commit ?
