Re: Cyberbullying via Minetest/IRC

back then in the 1900's kids didn't get into depression because a card from a sender named "urmomma69" said they were useless idiots. Of course they did. Even in the 1900s there was bullying. (Without the cyber-, probably, but bullying is bullying). Blaming the victim doesn't really help....

Re: WIP Mod [Mobs-World] (for mobs redo)

oh.. forgot the link here it is : https://github.com/SystemError89/Mobs-World I was curious to see what you already did. But putting stuff in a zipfile kind of defeats the use of putting it on github. People now can't suggest changes to individual files because everything is on one file. Also, git ...

Thanks for the praise :-). But as I said before, 99% of the work is done by sfan5, mireq, Shadowninja... So the largest part of the praise should go to them :-)

Re: Minetestmapper rewritten into C++

papou30 wrote: "Exception: Image format not supported by gd" So what is this "gd"??

gd is the library minetestmapper uses to save images. You need to give a valid extension to the output filename.
For example -o out.png or -o out.jpg I think gd supports jpg, gif and png

Re: [Android] stu's unofficial android builds [5.0.0-dev]

I can't toggle any setting in the advanced settings in this version. Tried on a Motorola G5.

Even connected an external mouse and keyboard, but no luck. With some trying I can expand the + signs, but clicking on an individual setting doesn't do anything.

Re: Minetestmapper rewritten into C++

Sorry, it should be --zoom 4. And it does look a lot nicer with --zoom 4 than scaled with gimp afterwards, because the cubes get a bit bigger.

Oh and 99% of the praise should go to the original writers of minetestmapper for the clear code. I just bolted on some brute force isometric overdrawing :-)

Re: [Mod] Mobs Redo [1.49] [mobs]

I found a bug (either in mobs_redo, or in cottages) when clicking a horse with cottages:staw_ground the server crashes. not sure if it matters, but Sokomine doesn't have the parentheses: sounds = default.node_sound_dirt_defaults(), I think that's it! So the problem is in cottages. I'll delete the i...

Re: Minetestmapper rewritten into C++

Oh , documentation, I need to write some. :-) I'll update the docs later int he meantime this is what I use: minetestmapper -i world/ -o isomap.png --tilesize 128x128 --isometric --drawalpha --noemptyimage --min-y -32 --scale 4 You can use --geometry to limit the area to an interesting part, because...

Re: Minetestmapper rewritten into C++

I experimented some more with the isometric output hacked into my fork of minetestmapper and this is the current output: https://i.imgur.com/xpo2TLN.jpg Looks quite nice, but I really should get to work and write a utility which is geared towards isometric from the start because this is so slooooow ...

Re: Daily Worlds Backups Script

If you just want to keep it simple, you might want to do what I do now. It's not the best system on a very busy server, but as all my players are schoolfriends of my children I can safely shutdown/restart the server at 2:00h A.M. I just do (from a cron job, scheduled at 02:00h in the night) #!/bin/s...

Re: [Poll] How did you find out about MT?

Migdyn meant the name *sounds* like it is that.

And maybe it does. But I personally think it's charming. A true Coder's name. For me, when I see a project with a name like that I associate it with enthusiastic communities.

And thats 100% correct in the case of Minetest \o/

Re: [Mod] Hyperloop [hyperloop]

Now I got it, this will not work. All nodes are connected like a chain (double linked list) by means of node data 'param2'. If you build it by set_nodes, the complete information will be missing. Ah, that explains. It would be nice if there was a command to fixup the list. /fixuphyperlooptupe <coor...

Re: [Mod] Hyperloop [hyperloop]

You first have to open the doors by clicking on them. Then, you can use the button to start the elevator. I click till my mouse gets hot :-). But the doors won't open. You should update tubelib2, this bug should be fixed. The crash still happens with the newest tubelib2 & hyperloop (pulled just...

To run a minetest client, you'll need something graphical though. On Raspbian the 3d accleration is only available through X.

A server can do text-mode only.

Re: Compiling Minetest on Raspberry PI

I was working with Nathan.s last night to get a version running and try it out. If it works we where going to put it on the forum. On a raspberry pi 3B+ it works quite well if you don't install too many mods. You need to enable the hardware 3d and give it maximum video memory with raspi-config. Fur...

Re: Compiling Minetest on Raspberry PI

I'm not sure if those instructions are up to date. Did the first command report any errors? ft2build.h is from freetype I think. start your favourite package manager and install the freetype dev package. It *should* have been installed with the first instruction from that link, but if it gave any er...

Re: Daily Worlds Backups Script

I make daily backups, at a time when it's unlikely any of the players are awake (they are all school friends of my kids :-) ). But when I have to do my backups when nobody's online, I can just as easily just shutdown the server and restart it and be 100% certain the backup is consistent. I'm going t...

Re: The huge, untapped potential of skyblocks [long read+tl;

A bit far fetched in the case of mods I think. I'd prefer the game industry to make their games *more* moddable. And I'm ok with it if that means they make more money because of mods I might produce for free. Modding is a hobby, you know. So IMHO buying games which are easily moddable incentivizes t...

Re: The huge, untapped potential of skyblocks [long read+tl;

Nice writeup. As I've been out-of-the loop concerning minecraft since microsoft bought it and I can't get my copy to run anymore I didn't really know what the 'skyblock' stuff was about. Now I need to try out the minetest versions :-) But I truly don't understand your reasoning here: However, I feel...

Re: Daily Worlds Backups Script

But that does mean that mod_storage, or any mod file writing, can be out of sync with the map if you backup both at separate times while minetest is running? Or do I overlook something.
