The method you described using mod storage is a massive hack, and should be avoided . I've never seen a good reason to use a method like that. it results in unexpected behaviour, and there is also never a good reason to depend on all mods. Minetest 5.0.0 approach If you can put depends in mod.conf ...

I have renamed the mod and github to item_limit so it doesn't look so ridiculous.

Short answer: Nope Long answer: If you added every mod to the depend.txt or mod.conf file you could depend on every mod, but then for anybody to use your mod they would have to enable every other mod. There really is no reason that a mod should depend on that many mods, when you depend on a mod it'...
