These already built-in features really should be out in the open in the main menu, not hidden away only to be unlocked in the configs. Oh well... I still think they need a new design though, so it's not stopping me.

I agree we need dungeons back. Only they should be designed a bit more differently I feel. The old dungeons looked more like crypts.

We still can't even get hurt by fallen gravel or sand, nor can we get hurt when touching cactus. Mobs do add to the threat level for a survival-mode game, but we're still missing some natural threats as well. Try looking at this mod. It's not part of the default game but it does have cactus damage....

Fireflies were self illuminating, not actually a light source, but it gave it that impression. I miss those little fellas. They were so mindless and random. With a bit of improvement, they would make the night in Minetest pretty again. I personally like to catch them and put into those glass vessels...
