Can't; Twitch streams can't be viewed without Flash Player or some sort of special Android or iOS application . It doesn't even work with Lightspark; I checked. Twitch has their own application for android and ios devices. Has quite a lot of bugs at the moment, but hey, it's still possible. Emphasi...

That should work. Your local IP address should start with "192.168. 2 ", though (in this last post you mentioned an IP address with the third digit being 1). Did you type the wrong address when connecting with the other Minetest client, perhaps? Side note: you don't need to hide your local IP addres...

Set both ports to 30000.

As for the protocol, I think it's UDP for Minetest; you can try each to find out for sure. Or you can just forward the port for both of them, that will be fine too.

You need to port forward if the host is connected wirelessly to a router. Look up something like "port forwarding <your router manufacturer>". By the way, it doesn't matter as long as it worked, but you didn't need to use sudo for ifconfig, and ifconfig is actually deprecated in many GNU/Linux syste...

You really ARE Drasher's brother. Yeah, I am. I don't know much about her online presence, though, so I don't recognize any significance in this. I guess every non radical open-source advocate is sick and tired of his beliefs. I use Xubuntu, and I don't like what he says about Ubuntu. You mean abou...

Like when you told a modder you wouldn't use his mod because you don't like his license? Yeah, no. I didn't tell someone that a non-commercial license is proprietary to start an argument. I told them that because I felt it might have been accidental, or a misunderstanding of what free/libre and ope...

It's not my fault your brainwashing makes it easy to point out every contradiction and bending of the truth you post. last I checked patent litigation is as real as copyright litigation. They could file on the grounds that Minetest has similar concepts as Minecraft (i.e its gameplay). Concepts can't be copyrighted. Only works can. Minetest absolutely is not a derivative work of Minecraft; it uses the same idea (ideas can't be copyrighted) and nothing more. It's true enough, though,...

There's a readme included with the source; it's geared toward GNU/Linux and especially Ubuntu, but it should be possible to figure out how to do it; the main difference is going to be how you install the dependencies. You need cmake, make, and the libraries Minetest uses. You can get an idea of the ...

But if minetest doesnt use a single line of code from minecraft, how can they claim "copyright" ? You'd be surprised what kind of crap you can get away with if you have enough money. A few years ago, the Tetris Troll convinced a U.S. district court that things like the shapes of the pieces and the ...

These comments seem to confuse copyright with patents. You can remake the chair, but not if it's patented. There are three types of 'copyright', commonly used. Copyright - things you make. Is: written works, music, games, art. Patents - design of things Trademarks - names, logos. Not quite. Designs...

Can someone CARE to PROVE that the game "is not ready" ? I already did: it doesn't have mobs. We've already seen Minecraft players reject Minetest for this reason. It doesn't matter that Minecraft isn't on Steam; everyone knows about it. Minecraft doesn't need Steam to attract an audience. It's not...

If you wanted to really buy a song, it could cost you thousands of pounds/dollars/etc. Instead you buy A COPY of the song. You don't own the song; you can't give copies to your friends. Information isn't "owned"; only copies are owned. Copyright monopolies, however, are owned. Copyright monopolies ...

If you buy a film, or a game, or a piece of music, you never own it. You own THE LICENSE TO USE IT. Minecraft is no different in this. That's true of proprietary software, but not true of music, films, and video games that aren't downloaded through the Internet. You buy a copy. A license isn't need...

more players = more developers. simple as that. Reality is much more complicated than that. The guys who coined the term "open source" have been claiming ever since then that free/libre and open source projects tend to involve massive collaboration, but this is usually wrong: http://media.libreplan...

I don't know much about the Steam community, but my guess is Minetest isn't ready for that audience. I'm sure a lot of them would compare it to Minecraft in a negative way: no mobs, not as many servers, a lot of servers being slow, etc. I don't imagine they would experiment very much with mods, eith...

gtkRecordMyDesktop sucks. SimpleScreenRecorder is excellent. There is no comparison between these two, and SimpleScreenRecorder is easily the best screen recording program for X right now. (For the record, the command-line recordMyDesktop program is fine, but I prefer a graphical interface.)

Actually, I can think of only one change for realism I would be in favor of: make the player float, rather than sink, in the water. Realistic for most humans (unless you're particularly muscular and skinny, you will naturally float), but I think it would be better in particular because swimming is a...

I don't get why people call the Ouya an "open source" console. Its developers don't champion open source in any way and most of the software on it is not open source. The Ouya developers never even called it "open source"; they called it " open ". Their use of "open" also applies to Windows. They're...
