Damn, I think we are getting into something similar to the flightgear scam here. http://www.flightgear.org/flightprosim.html Time we made a page similar to the FG one here. It's good that some people are double-checking before purchasing, but I worry about those that didn't. Time we sent a letter t...

Worldcraft/buildcraft was illegally posted. It does not follow the share-alike clause of the Minetest license. Someone pointed out that Minetest is under the GNU LGPL, and the publisher of the Android Minetest circumvented copyleft by technically making a compatibility layer that loads Minetest lik...

EDIT: If you dislike the new interface, just go with Xubuntu. it's still Ubuntu but with a somewhat lighter choice of things installed by default (including not having that annoying "system menu" as I call it as I hate to have to use searching to find an app in a menu) 11.10 uses Unity, too. It was...

Ubuntu 11.10 reached end-of-life nearly 7 months ago. If you're still using it, your system is insecure.

I couldn't say what the oldest supported version of OpenGL is on Ubuntu 12.04 since I don't really understand the packages, but what do you need OpenGL 1.3 or prior for, anyway?

Well, it's concerning that a U.S. district court ruled that a Tetris clone infringed the Tetris Troll's copyright because it used the same shapes and had the same grid size . But that kind of ridiculously loose application of copyright can already be used to allow Mojang to sue Minetest, because it ...

Heck, you can't compare two computers that have different x86 processors so simply. There's more to how fast a CPU is than clock rate, and there's more to how well Minetest will run than CPU speed.

I wouldn't agree with "preferably mediafire", because that site uses a lot of gratuitous Javascript code for both uploading and downloading that is presumably proprietary. But anyway, there are tons of file hosting sites; the one kind of place to definitely keep out of is those sites that have wait ...

"Public property" isn't a valid legal term pertaining to copyright. Works which aren't copyrighted are "public domain ". Sorry if I sound nitpicky, but the term "public property" has no legal significance in copyright, so because you didn't explain what you meant, despite your intentions, the legal ...

Don't worry about what you have if it's 12.04; the adware feature was introduced in 12.10, but when it's time to upgrade, try something else. It's not a security thing (though the EFF did report that it's possible, because of how it's done, for snoopers to infer what you're searching for every time ...

Zorin is based on Ubuntu's stable releases, so it would have worked with the Ubuntu packages. Personally, because your local searches are reported to Canonical (and used to display Amazon ads) by default[0] (even though you can turn this behavior off), I recommend not using or recommending Ubuntu, o...

Yeah, that should be fixed. Wooden axe is useless. I didn't know that the wooden axe is slower than the hand, but yeah, it should be faster than it is now. So I was just wondering if it matters what distro I downlaod it for? Wont it work with any Linux OS??? Yes, it matters. The only two things all GNU/Linux distros necessarily have in common are GNU (userland, core libraries, and other core OS stuff) and Linux (the kernel; the part that talks to the ...

I find it really annoying that this instantly breaks many tools when you use them on the wrong thing. I was annoyed when I lost a perfectly good diamond sword because I was wielding it while I picked up a torch, and I've lost a compass from another mod more than once because of it. (It's not whateve...

I'm not interested in it anyway, but I wouldn't play this unless you took that "NC" clause off of the code, at least (and frankly, software shouldn't be put under Creative Commons licenses in the first place; those licenses are meant for cultural works, not software). please don't proselytize. Why?

Because that makes the software proprietary. I only use free software.[1]

Do a screen capture. On windows it is fn+end for me. Just look up how to do print screen. Then after you print screen paste it into something. The key is Print Screen. Some systems (like Windows) will put it onto a clipboard, some (like GNOME) will save it to a file. Actually, some don't work with ...

Is Notch even powerful enough to do that anymore? I never followed Minecraft, so I don't know much about it, but I think Minecraft has gotten a lot bigger than it was in 2010, hasn't it? I'd imagine that Notch would have let go of any copyrights he had and allowed a company to have it pretty easily....

Doesn't matter if they did. Ideas are plentiful. People who complain about "stealing" (using) someone else's idea are noobs.

(As a side note, I think the way Minetest identifies items is inherited from Lua, not an idea the Minetest developers came up with.)

Yeah, computer processors and noise from the fan don't tend to keep you company very well. On a more serious note, if you want to play with other people, go to the multiplayer tab and join someone else's server that's publicly listed and already has players on it. Usually there's a few people in som...

For music, there's the ambience mod. Yeah, it would be nice if it was in the default game, but I think that mod is kind of heavy for some reason, so it would need to be made more lightweight. Some people also might not like having music.
