Re: The Titanic

People around here don't like mediafire too much. You could use Google Drive or Dropbox What're you going on about? Who thinks that there's a problem with Mediafire but not Google Drive or Dropbox? I'm pretty sure most people here would more appreciate GitHub, Gitorious, or some other similar servi...

Re: Do we have a Modding FAQ?

Wiki stuff stays on the wiki. No need to link that to the forums. You can talk about it in the IRC if you want.

Sorry if I'm being rude, but I want to keep stuff clean around here. Please direct further inquiries at my User Talk Page

Re: Do we have a Modding FAQ?

Having two pages for installing mods is okay. At the end of the day, we still get around 10 queries per week on how to install mods haha. But actually creating mods is not stuff that the general player is to be harassed with.

Moreover, proprietary forum software should be avoided at all costs. They're usually overcomplicated anyway.

Re: Do we have a Modding FAQ?

I am pretty sure that modding info and tutorials belongs in the community wiki. I think the dev wiki is more for engine documentation, but I may be confused. I do know that the community wiki has a general FAQ, but the dev wiki does not. I took the liberty of adding a modding FAQ page to the commun...

Re: Garry's Mod proves Minetest must be on Steam

I won't reply to anything on this thread for now, but I went ahead and researched a bit more. Also discussed this with a good friend of mine and I have learnt the following: 1. Steam is indeed a bad place to put up minetest, for reasons more than 1. Firstly, the $100 fee is not the first thing you p...

Re: Garry's Mod proves Minetest must be on Steam

@neuromancer Why do you never reply to my messages on Steam? Am I THAT annoying? Ok, I do understand the community hostility towards steam as a platform. But do understand that steam has been digging into open source lately (even though its business practice is of a restrictive nature) with their St...

Re: Do Any Of You Know When The New Minetest Version Is Comi

Evergreen, you are right, 0.4.x was originally for developing and fleshing out the modding API. However, it is not a bad thing if we got a lot of stuff (shaders, 3rd person view, etc) along the way, it it? philip, the version control numbers do depend on the internals. If you use dev builds, you wil...

I bet paramat could build a nice mountain generator (I think he already did), and with AdventureTest, we could achieve something of the standards of the this:

Re: UDP or TCP? Should we use buffered streams?

'Good enough' isnt good enough. We should strive to excellence. I'd actually apply this thinking to Minetest. Since the engine has so much potential and so many features already, it's sad to see it put down by little issues like this. When you can't even follow a player around on a server with a go...

Actually, stuff has moved to the wiki, and it is now more filled up and stuff. Instead of working on a manual alone, I now edit the wiki.

Dwarf, open up a terminal and type "lshw". Scroll the output, and find anything related to graphics. If you find that your computer uses intel HD as graphics, post here, and I will help you get the latest graphics stack installed. =)
