Re: Estinguish Fire?

The code of fire. The propagation of fire is not managed by the map directly, but it's calculated for each flame : ⋅ Every second, a flame near a flammable node has 50% chance to duplicate itself at one of the air nodes in the 3x3x3 nodes around. (lines 106-123) ⋅ Every 2 second...

Re: Lush8 Texture Pack [8x8][8/25/2014-B]

Some minetest_game textures are missing : ⋅ doors ⋅ dye ⋅ farming ⋅ fire ⋅ screwdiver ⋅ tnt ⋅ vessels ⋅ wool I think the dirt with grass is a little too bright, I think it must be green and not yellow. I don't say it to ...

Re: Some number keys not working

But now, copying-pasting on Minetest GUIs works, which wasn't the case before. In fact, it depends on the GUI : in the new version of VanessaE's Signs Library, it doesn't work. For example i play in the VanessaE's Vanilla Server. I've made a long tunnel and I wanted to put a sign which shows the na...

Re: Rewrite Flowers

It's not exactely what I think : I would like to define a noise for each flower to make differences between places : in the nature there aren't the same species of flowers everywhere.

Re: Restore mapgen v5 ?

Inocudom wrote:Have you ever seen the caves in a mapgen v5 world? They are quite interesting.

Yes, sure, I prefer this cave generator. For example I've found a big cave which make the link between a beach and a mountain. It doesn't exists in v6 or it's far fewer beautiful.

Restore mapgen v5 ?

Hello ! I suggest to restore the mapgen V5 in the following Minetest version. It was interesting, because it was 3D noise. I found these landscapes has a somewhat wonderful thing. I've played many times in the same world. But I had the bad idea to continue playing on it with Minetest 0.4.8 last year...

Re: Estinguish Fire?

The fire spreads too fast in Minetest. I will try to fix it if you agree.

Re: Rewrite Flowers

I thought about it. In the old code, there was a maximal density (4 flowers in 9x9x9 nodes) after which they stop spreading. But the aim is not to remove this feature, but to make them continue changing without increasing density. My idea is to add the fact that a flower has a small chance to disapp...

Rewrite Flowers

I'm working on Flowers, a minetest_game mod which (I think) should be rewritten. Especially the problem is in the spreading algorithm. When there are 4 flowers in a 9x9x9 cube, they stop changing forever. But, in the real life, nature is constantly changing. I will perhaps rewrite the mapgen also. I...

Re: [Mod] Hovers [hovers]

Interesting. I think it would be better to be able to move vertically, but I like it. And it don't saturate the computer, contrary to hovercraft.

Re: [Server] VanessaE's Mostly-Vanilla Minetest Server [git]

I've found this bug at https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/1125. It has been fixed on February 2nd. I suppose the Minetest version from it you run the server is outdated. Is it possible to update it ?

Re: Lua mapgen tutorial

You could be interested by my mapgen library mod, especially if you find difficult to use PerlinNoiseMaps. There are some features which could be useful. See here.

Or, if you are an expert, you can contribute to my project. Git repo here.

Re: [Mod] Map Generation Library [mapgen_lib]

Forest and mapgen_lib are two different things. But, if you want, you can rewrite the Forest mapgen to use this library, but it's not the library which defines the nodes.

I'm not sure to have understood what you tell me.

Re: [Mod] Forest

It is a problem of Minetest versions. I've created this mod on February-March-April, the lastest Minetest was 0.4.9. Now it's 0.4.10, the syntax of this function has changed. It's not a bug, it means "Warning : in the followings versions of Minetest, the support for this syntax will be removed.

[Mod] Map Generation Library [mapgen_lib]

This mod is still experimental and unstable. By creating Forest , I've realised that making a map generator by the Lua VM is a complex work. But I think it could be made easier, especially the PerlinNoiseMaps. This mod adds lua functions about map generation, for example a method of VoxelAreas which...

Could you let others fork it and continue work on it? I think Minetest has a big potential but it is still not completely exploi...
